So what I want to do here is create a mission where a bunch of NPC's will be chasing me with hatchets (or any type of melee weapon).

I figured that the only way to get a hatchet would be if I opened the editor with DayZ. So basically what I have done is have DayZ enabled in the expansions, then press ALT+E (to enter the 3D editor).

This gives me the option to add characters and items from DayZ, but how can I give the NPC's a custom loadout? I've tried several different scripts that would normally work in the 2D editor, but it has no effect whatsoever on the units I've added.

DayZ is not ArmA2. There are no melee weapons in ArmA2. DayZ mod needs ArmA2 but ArmA2 cannot use DayZ. You either play DayZ or ArmA2, not both. :) Also DayZ sucks, but I digress.

Doesn't answer the question. It could be any weapon, I just want to know how to give a unit a custom loadout in the 3D editor. Anything else can come later.
