I've begun work on optimizing the weapon models (and textures) for Armed Assault. With some of developments recently (memory point named 'eye' to provide the game with the position for the 3D optics), I've started setting up the models for work on them with Oxygen 2.

This really is one of my favorites. He made a pack for VBS1 as well and we used to play with it almost each weekend.
Really great to know now he is working on a pack for Arma now :)

The quality of this pack is top and the ammount of new weapons available will make this a must have for many Arma players I think :)

Yo Big!
Nice weapons there!

I am new to Arma moding or any game modding but not new to modeling and texturing.
I am a 3d modeller for feature film as profession but love this game so much, I recently teamed up with
SASMOD to do some quality stuff.
I loved the mods for OPF but the general quality was so poor.
I just wanted some awesoem spec ops guys that looked better (quality wise)than the default guys.
So here I am.

I really need some help... seems you know what your doing.

Firstly, how do I extract ro export characters and weapons from Arma into .OBJ meshs, so i can reverse engineer it?

Secondly, how to reimplement my models from OBJs.

How to layout UVs, UV map capacity and Normal Maps.
Can I reimplement normal maps.
Some of the ''cloth creasing'' on the aram characters is rubbish, I want to refine it etc.
Can I implement normal maps on the weapons to retain lost detail in the low-resness of it all?

If you come back to on any of these questions and which software I need, would be a great help!

Sincerley

P Koch.

This really is a beautiful game. I remember the reviews talking about how ArmA wasn't really on par with some of todays more popular titles such as HL2, CoD2, etc., but I think that's malarky personally.
