* Background:

Operation Northstar (ONS) began as a game modification for the hit title "Operation Flashpoint (OFP)" in 2002. Our objective was to create the highest quality addons that represented the Canadian Forces in order to allow users to experience what life in the forces was like.

In 2004, work ceased on the mod. Most of the team disbanded and moved onto other projects, but the hope of ONS lived on through the fans of the mod who kept on using the addons.

In March of 2006, a few of the team members of the mod decided that, with the announcement of Armed Assault, they had to get back into the game and do our best to represent Canada once again. Even though they haven't released anything yet (you can't blame them, the game isn't even out), they hope that you'll enjoy their work and will be looking forward to their releases as much as they are.

* Mod Objectives:

Operation Northstar will be released in three phases. They have been aptly titled:

- ONS:Army
- ONS:Air
- ONS:Navy

All of the phases will include addons of the units that are presently in use, and maybe a bonus here and there. Again, the focus will be on present day units. As for the troops and weapons, they're waiting until some modding tools are released for ArmA before we begin making them.

They will also be releasing ONS:1985 once the first three packs have been released.

The following are pictures of the Captive model. I used Abs CADPAT AR texture for the camo although i changed the colors slightly to look less yellowish and more faded and used. This texture for the most part is done, i still have to add a few more wrinkles in the vest, shadows, stitches and other "fune tuning".

Anything in the works to add the G-Wagon into the vehicles ? It was used in Afghanistan but they aren't allowing it out side the wire anymore and I believe they have started shipping them back to Canada, sure would be nice to see the G-Wagon in there with a C6 (M240g) on the top :D that would be nice......

Finally i have another update to the troops, this time its the infantry model. Now that i have textured the tac vest and gear etc. texturing the rest of the models should be much faster. Anyways here are some pics of the troops in 3ds max.

I think you should ask them directly in their forums or on the BI Forums, because I don't know if they ever visited us.

Well yes Frantz we do visit from time to time, well i do anyways :).

To awnser your question Schafer, the main goal of ONS is to represent the Canadian Forces in afghanistan to date. Right now we are focusing on equipment that is most commonly used like the RG-31 Nyala, Leo C2, LAV III etc. Once this is done then MABEY we can move on to representing more of the CF. ONS has a very small 3 man team and we are just trying to swallow the rather big chunk we have bitten off so far.
