Hi all,
here is very early release of what will be Afghanistan map for arma2.
Its very big i release because its somewhere planes can finally have a nice map to hide on for at least a little time :).

It is very early alpha , it has working clutter ( not much) and it has no buildings , i release for feedback and will try to enhhance with some more terrain via the mask layer in future release.

if anybody builds any nice bases pls let me have the mission .sqm then i can put this permanent via Visitor . thanks.

Known problems

slow to load from editor (ok after that)
arma2.rpt errrs = 0 ( so far )

It's a nice, big map. The clutter seems fine to me. As you said it's a pre alpha. The terrain could use a little smoothing out, I think you mentioned that in your post. Maybe some larger mountains here and there. But it's nice, and it has potential.

Hi all,
thanks for the pic sparks ,

i am already getting some feedback and there will be a small update soon .

1. some shadow appears over a unit ( intermittent) , i tested with planes and i missed this .i have a fix i think.

2. a car is being stpped in the north east by a mystery invisible thing lol.( emery reported and providing evidence)

small update , working on the sat mask layers and reduced to 100kx100k to give more mountainous feel for the land huggers.

Slow load in editor, what would you expect...

Assuming this map is 180x180 having a Bradley of 60kmph max speed. It could take three hours if you decide to drive? I am fainting already thinking of it.

Just think of the possibilities you can have with this map! If you have e creative mind you can do anything with this large scale map. Performance wise it would not be a good idea, but I think this map is useful for the Stargate mod. with the portals (stargates).
