well you are the only person that isn't complaining about this. I mean did you see the news post on the home page. People are already saying that this is stupid and its going to separate the community. I don't see how that's going to happen. The people in the Flight Simulation community had no problems nor they did not complain when addons / DLC where coming from 3rd party developers and the officials. Also Separation never did happen. In that community it seemed to make it stronger and gave more idea to mod makes.

The whole separation or community splitting complaints are bs. Every single addon that has been released is splitting the community. And that since almost a decade. As far as I can tell no one ever complained about a free addon or Mod is splitting the community but as soon as BIS release DLC and wants a little fee for it, it's all about splitting the community and the end of MP.

I can think of many other games where modding has allegedly split the community but people found way to work around it.

Your right about that. So i don't see why the arma community thinks that its the end of the world because of it. And right again, Most of the people crying out there are the ones that want the DLC for free. BI did say that the are doing this to help farther development of the game engine. They also said that there might be some free DLC. Most of them are acting my age, sadly.

Yep, agreed with the free lunch stuff.
Sad to see a company which was founded to make money should not do that but give everything for free. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Nobody forced you to buy the game neither when it was already rumored/said there would be DLC, payed and/or free released later.

And seeing the money they make will be used to keep working on the engine and as such ensure the Arma series to live on alone should be enough reason to support the dev. Unless of course you don't like Arma, but what would you do here than anyway

I'm so happy right now, I'm gonna go get some cans, this is quality!

A separate disc pressing would not really make sense, but I'll hold out hope that one of those "unannounced sources" includes the option of D/L purchase directly from the BIS Library/Store...nothing against Steam -never used it- but I would prefer that all content would be co-located in default dirs.

I don't like Steam and will do all I can to prevent me from buying from them. Sprocket is much better in this case.
I don't really think making it available on a DVD is an option here, at least surely not for the announced price range.

I would have preferred a boxed version of Arrowhead. Can't complain though since I won a CD key for steam, and some more arma stuff, which I am waiting for. :)

Ahh I bet that about multiplayer means that models can be viewed by others but not really used to their full extent or something by those without the DLC. Not entirely sure but we'll see. My main concern is that if I have it and want to use it with mates who haven't got it, then I wouldn't be able to or in the unlikely case, they'd buy it even if they didn't want it.

I love the OFP and ArmA series, only games what i have bought so far, but I can't pay 10 EURs for 7 weapon, 2 car and 2 heli, waht addon makers can give us free. This is a very bad idea, BIS will lose lot of fans whit this move. (they dont got too many so they should whatch for it) This is a VERY BAD idea from the BIS. In the end they will like activision with the cod series, but acti got a lot more buyer:X

Go and buy DR as you said, the support for it is superior I heard. Oh and btw, your DR had DLC too - before they stopped supporting it.

I got Arma and Arma 2, OFP series, so i know they give out the game half ready. This is a fact. The big problem is, that if the BIS will taste the money they will give out Unit, Weapon, etc addons for money, and won't give support for the modders. Like the cod series. The fanboys were mad when someone said this thing, and look at the cod now. I were angry when i wrote this comment so.... Patches. If they make the game and the patches sooooooooo great we dont need for ACE 2, BDMultigunfix, AI Dispersion etc etc..... They can't even made the AI players drive without crashing every house. Yeah, Arma is a very complicated and GOOD game, but they better take care about the game, not the (i think) expensive Addons, what is called DLC.

So Calm Down Man.:D
