Im having a huge problem dealing with the editor. I have read many of the basic editor manuals and none seem to cover the basic operation of the editor all are concerned with making a mission. I cannot even figure out how to load a pre-existing mission.

An example I'm playing a campaign called Perpetua. A great campaign but it makes me extremely mad that you cannot use the save game feature. I'm not sure if its because the designers didn't play test it with people who didn't know where the enemy is but as I'm still learning how to play the game I get blown away all the time and have to restart the mission from the very beginning of the save which is automatic it takes me 30 minutes to get back to where I died the last time. I don't have days to play one part of the mission.

How do you modify the campaign to allow save games? I click on editor and it asks me for an island I have tried both island and click the load function which doesn't allow you to type in a load game name? What is going on here?

Obviously my game cannot find any files or something. But why cant you type anything in the box. I know enough to copy .pbo files to the \mydocuments\arma directory but still cannot see them. Any help would be appreciated. Please I'm getting crazy mad at listing to Russian jokes for the 1000th time.

I am fairly green to all this so not sure how this would work for a campaign. But you need to look into Un-pbo. there are atleast a few different utilities available to un-pbo a mssion. Basically what these utilities do is un pack the pbo file into there original editable form. I have used this one to have a look at missions. Don't know about campaigns though. But you might want to look into it until. You get a better answer from someone whom knows better.

I personally prefer to use "Kegety's unpbo tool" (part of the armas tools, just check the readme for instructions).
As fence says you will need to unpbo the campaign pbo, search for the correct mission and copy that mission file to your
C:\Documents and Settings\your computer username\My documents\ArmA Other Profiles\your arma profile\missions
Than start the editor, load up the correct island (for this campaign it is Sahrani) and than choose the mission from the list. Now you can edit the mission.

The fact the creator didnt add any save possibilieties to the mission can have many reasons. maybe he tried it but never gotten it to work.
Adding the possibility to save a mission requires some good knowledge about SP scripting.

You may want to contact the creator first asking him if its possible to add. It would be a waste of your time to spent hours on while he tried it already without luck.

Since you can now edit the mission you can remove the number of enemy units at the area where you die all the time.

Also keep note you can lower the AI skill in your arma options menu ;)

[edit]
btw, I have removed your question you submitted to our FAQ since you already figured out you should ask those questions in the forums :thumb

Yeah im slowly figuring it out. Yesturday I got the unpack part figured out. I like the mission perpetua alot as it has many troops to command which of course increases the fun factor. If the author could figure out a way to shorten the save moments so it saves more often then I could save tons of time between death and another try at death because this particular campaign once you know the secret to every situation its just a matter of repeating it over and over as the AI never changes unless you pick a different route. Each mission can last for hours between saves so if you die and of course the enemy always guns for the user first then its restart all over again. Is there a campaign that has massive troops + armor vs a similar equipted force? Sneaking around with time limits isnt my style. One thing the original campaign had was large battle scenes which of course you could play without even firing a shot and win but at least it looked impressive.

I cant give very usefull info about any SP mission, wehter its a campaign or not.
I only play MP.

I can only advice you to just download the campaigns we have in our download section (which is here) and than just try them, 1 by 1.

Most have been made by different people so they should have different styles, hopefully one of those fits your likings ;)
