As for Operation Arrowhead, ArmA2 does not currently have a server install available for this on their download page. If you have a link to where we can obtain the server installation for this then we would be happy to look into it for you.

They could just copy and upload the contents of a DVD to their servers and install from there.
Or, if their servers have a DVD drive insert the disk manually. Or, they can download it from Steam or Sprocket.

A server need the full install, there is no little server file, only the full game. Which in its turn contains the server.exe to be able to run a dedicated.

i guess it will be exactly the same as setting up and running an Arma2 server so if we follow the tutorial on the Arma2 forums should be the same??

Yes, most is the same.
If you run the OA server (from the expansion folder) it will automatically add Arma 2 as well, so your server will be for both Arma 2 and OA missions.

If you install OA standalone (not inside the Arma 2 root folder) you can run a dedicated only running OA.

I've stumbled across this thread as I too am trying to get an OA dedicated server up 'n' running for my merry band of men. We have already got 2 ArmA2 servers running which were installed by copying their files to our server (Windows). I have followed the advice given here and copied up the contents of the OA DVD to the server also. Running setup asks for the installation key which, as you know, is on the back of the included manual (and what a nice change it was seeing one of those included with a game).

And so to the question ...

Am I OK to use my key for the installation or am I likely to fall foul of some 'duplicate key detected' algorithm? I'm hoping someone here can answer that from experience.

Apologies for making my first post a plea for help but there is an amazing lack of information out there for people trying to get dedicated servers up for the community's use.

If you run a dedicated (armaserver.exe) you wont have a problem with the key. If you run the game with the "server" command in the targetline you will get that message and prevent you from playing.
So, just run a dedi and you have no troubles at all.

I understand what you're saying but it's my understanding that the OA dedicated server is in the 1.52 patch which can only be applied to an installed version of OA - which cannot be installed without entering the key.

Or am I missing something here?

You can locally install the game (like the game your running yourself on your PC) patch it and upload those files to your server.
Since you have a windows server you could also just upload the files from the DVD + the patch to the server and install directly (I think, not the best server tech guy here ). But both options still will take some time as you have to upload lots of GB.

I've already uploaded 7+GB of data so don't fancy doing more.

OK. I'm going to install using my personal key, then patch. If it means my personal copy of OA is compromised then I'll get my community to buy me a new copy :)
