First thing I should tell you is when buying components for pc's stay away from comet/dexons/pcworld/curry's alls they do is rip you off bigtime!!

Best thing to do is buy online, a good site for us brits to buy from is http://www.overclockers.co.uk

you want to get a better psu, maybe a 650-750w for any future upgrades (increased ram, Gfx Sli etc)

a 460GTX is good for High settings in ArmA II, depending on which you get you could also achieve very high settings.

Ofcourse it all depends on your price range too.

Quote hornby7590:
hey thanks, my price range for th graphics card is around £250 and i can get a psu for £50.....what grpahics card u think i should get for the budget?? aslo is anyhting else holding it back?

You could get anything from a 460 to a 570 with price permitting, I would recommend getting a psu that costs a little more the £50 if your thinking of upgrading in the future, modular psu's can start at £100 for a good one.

Just checkout that site I linked and look at Components \ Graphics Cards. Check out some reviews etc

# Dany S [CWW] : Nvidia have worse value for money though they are still good
You are kidding right? Haha! Its based on the person! All I have ever own is an Nvidia I had one for almost 3 years and not once gave me a problem. You sound like an AMD person, but than again its all about personal choice. I have done my research, I know whats up. Besides Nvidia is in all your modern GPU's soon they will be in all of them to an extent. Once again...all comes down to personal choice. You should be slapped, kidding of course. :-D >-o

whats better the Gtx 460 or the ASUS EAH 6850 DC?

Life is not an easy matter... You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above personal misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness.

"You sound like an AMD person"

Nahh :P I used to have a green inside, but when I did a load of research when buying my new PC, AMD has better value for money in 'high' and 'medium-high' ranges, whereas Nvidia (dont get me wrong, they have great GPUs :P) have more of the 'medium-low' and 'combined' (SLI) market.

Also true ;)

last post this thread, guy runs dualcore. for those who have hardware limitations this may be your ticket [template] to building missions that run better on your p.c. . 5 stars to roguetrooper for creating this way.
how you build your maps is just as important as hardware.

ARMA 2: CO used to run great for me. I got 44 FPS average in the OA benchmark and about the same in the first ARMA 2 benchmark. Lately, the game has started to load really slow and the performance is noticably worse both in-game and in the benchmark (35 in the OA bench, 28 in ARMA 2)

I haven't altered any settings or changed anything related to ARMA and ARMA is the only game/program affected.

Specs:

ATI HD4890 1GB
C2D E8500 3,16GHz
2x 7200RPM 500GB Drives
4GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM
Vista 64

I like how you included cords and wires and a bunch of other stuff, which doesnt imply anything to the game requirements. You should of narrowed it down a little bit. From the looks, it seems everything will work fine. I am not familiar with Radeon Cards so I have no idea about that, but I would assume you could at lease play on medium settings. What are the GhZ for you CPU? CPU has a big role in this game.
