I'm having to put several of the video options on normal/low and it just doesn't seem like I should have to... My specs are:

quad-core i7 3770k @ 3.5-3-9 ghz
16GM RAM
Nvidia GeForce 560ti 1GB

I know there's better video cards and processors out there but I feel like this should be able to run the game with MOST settings maxed out. I'm achiving around 30FPS with the following settings:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5zc721b6fdaovs1/arma2OA%202012-08-15%2003-36-01-10.bmp?m

Does this seem correct to everyone else? Also, I disabled postprocess effects so I could get rid of that ANNOYING blur effect.

EDIT:
Just Ran Benchmark 01 and average FPS was 65. Benchmark for OA was 66, and Benchmark 02 was 21.

Thanks for any replies!

I think those temps are perfectly fine. And if you feel bad about them just buy a better cooler :-)
Anyway, your whole system should run Arma ok, but dont expect it to run everything on max.

Ohh btw, an official warning for you. Why do you feel the need to make the same thread in 2 other sections as well after you were told in your first thread to use the sticky, which you also did.

Hey everyone! I'm looking to have the best gameplay for my Arma 2 CO. Not appearance, but gameplay! Here are my computer specs:AMD Phenom II X4 N970 (2.2GHz), ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Up to 1919 MB HyperMemory, 17.3" HD+ LED LCD, 4 GB DDR3 Memory, 500 GB HDD, DVD_Super Multi DL drive, Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n, 6-cell Li-ion battery. I know that my video card doesn't reach the minimum. That's why I don't go on full chaotic war firefights when I play. Although I want to. I usually just do the common firefights we see in Iraq and Afghanistan. Any help would mean alot and thanks.

If you are going to be spending money on an item, any item, it's just common sense to know a little bit about what you are about to be purchasing, and not relying on others to do your homework for you.
____
Your current spec (P4) lists 1 Gig of system RAM and an Intel integrated graphics adapter, and you seem to want to replace it with basically the same type of equipment...2 GB RAM, Radeon 6310 (integrated graphics- with no dedicated memory).

To answer your question "will it run ArmA II and DayZ" well, sure, it will, but not well, and while it would be newer equipment, you would be basically throwing your money away because you'd be left in the same boat.

ArmA II* requires a dedicated GPU to be any where near playable.

Let's put it this way.... the video card I bought to run Arma costs more than that entire PC. As NQ said you need a dedicated GPU and (IMO) a minimum of an Intel i5 CPU. Also SSD + Arma = win 8-)

Bless you my son.

I have the following homebuilt system:

AMD X6 2.8Ghz six core processor with larger installed cooling fan
12Gb DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD 4850 512Mb graphics card
240Gb hard disk

I have been playing ARMA2 OA on normal settings with around 4km draw distance and it keeps shutting down my computer, which I think is due to the graphics card overheating (it was very dusty which didnt help). Ive heard bad things about these 4850s overheating wise, although its fine in other games (getting a bit long in the tooth though). But I have been planning to upgrade my card so it makes sense to do so now. I dont want to spend more than £100 on it.

I was thinking about a Nvidea this time possibly the Nvidea Ti550 which I can get for around £80. Do you think this would be a good upgrade for me considering I dont want to spend loads of money but just like to upgrade my computer regularly to keep relatively up to date for games. I also do architectural rendering and was thinking I could do with a new card for that anyway. So would this be a good change do you think or is there a better card to get for the price bearing in mind I think I have had enough with ATI cards for the mo.

I am planning to also get an SSD drive and a new much larger hard disk when I can afford it but not yet.

It's life Jim, but not as we know it!

Hi im kinda new to pc gaming im here just play this game and i want to know wich settings i can use with this specs and how i can make my arma2 run better
Intel (R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 550 @3.20GHz 3.19 GHz
Ati Raedon HD5670 2266MB video memory 512MB of dedicated video memory
4gb RAM
27"display idk if this matters but i use 2560 x 1440 resolution

Wich tweaks i could do to make this run better, I already did the ARMA2.cfg and ARMA2OA.cfg maxframes ahead things plus im using the maxVRAM=<512>, exThreads=<4> cpucount=<2> (idk if my procesor is dual or quad but i think its dual)but i still get only 26 fps what other tweaks could i do??

Maybe someone can give me some advice on a graphics card for Combined Operations.

My computer is only able to run A2:CO at medium settings but my video card holds me back from that. I was wondering if anyone could suggest an inexpensive card that would let me run the graphics at a medium setting.
I am interested in playing with the AI on small to medium sized missions, and not so much MP,

My system is basically
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2.3 GHz Dual core processor
Ram - 2 GB (can expand to 4GB)
Graphics card - NVidia Geforce 9500 GT (1 GB memory) PCI express 16
I have an after market Power Supply

I know I will not be running at full speed or with the greatest graphics, but I would like to reach my computers potential on a tight budget.

Thank you if you can make a recommendation. I am just not up on hardware anymore, and I don't know what is better than what, and what is just a dog.

Thank you for any information you can share with me.

Hello everyone, i posted this in the wrong forum and was directed here.
I hope that this question is in the right sub forum now, apologies if its not.
I really would like to play the Unsung vietnam mod, but my current pc is not up to it.
Here my current specs, don't laugh.

Intel Core2 Duo cpu E6550 @ 2.33GHz(2CPUs)
8gb DDR2 Ram
Graphics card HD Radeon 6670 1gig
Direct X 9.0c
Windows xp 32bit home edition sp3

I'm looking for a new pc, and have about £1000 to spend. I've been looking at the gaming rigs at Scan computers, as their headquarters in Bolton are about 3 miles from where i live.
I just wondered if anyone playing this mod, and getting decent frame rates, could post their specs, just so that i would have an idea of what i need. It would be much appreciated.
Thankyou,
Stephen.

Nothing to laugh about this is a nice office PC for non-gamers now a days and used to be top notch 8 years ago. I could post my specs but they would be way over your budget so ill spare you that

the following list is based on a full system case only. No peripherals are included!
logical system these days:

any (proper ventilated case) > 100€
Intel 4790K > 298€
8GB 1866MHz RAM > 70€
Intel Z97 chipset motherboard 125€
GTX970 > 340€
600W PSU > 75€
120GB SSD (550MB/s min.) > 85€
DVDROM > 12€

------------------------+ ruffly about 1100€ or about 1000 pound (hardware is expensive in the UK)

Note: there is no faster hardware in the world then whats inside this PC and should be good for anything you wanna feed it for the next 2,5 years ;)
