ON TOPIC: Are these units going to have any type of patches included on them?

OFF TOPIC: Do they sell those IOTV's in surplus stores? I collect military uniforms, and I think that would go great. Also, I just now noticed that your name is Devil Dog, yet you're in the Army, and I'm really confused, LOL.

You won't find the IOTV in any surplus store. The IBA yes, however, they're all going to have the armor ripped out.

FYI - My screen name is DevilDog because I'm a prior service Marine currently serving in the Army.

Just FYI, they aren't shingles, I simply have the pouch cover tucked it. I've always done that. The only issue with posting other pouches is that 90% of the gear on my IOTV I purchased myself. This is the norm for most soldiers. The only thing that was issued is the IFAK, I also included a photo of it.

IFAK

I know it can be a pain in the ass to attempt to recreate gear without seeing it on someone. Here are some photos of me and my squad while on mission. Also, feel free to look through the rest of my album for anything you might be able to use.

thanks once again. those photos are truly excellent.. stunning quality as well.

anyway, made some normal maps for my vest. I think it's too strong.. and i should probably refrain from mapping my helmet as so, it looks like someone hit it with hammer.

all looking good besides the helmet, it seems too tight to me, there needs to be room for the padding inside too and also it is bigger than that overall! sorry for the critisism

Minus the helmet of course, which you already mentioned, one major issue are the mag pouches. You simply can't fit more than three on the front of the IOTV flap. You can see in the photo of me up top, that my fourth mag pouch is actually off to my left side, which required me to push my IFAK back further, and thus my left arm is awkward. I later changed that setup and placed that mag pouch horizontally. I'd also suggest pushing the mag pouches closer together.

Yeah, it's just a regular utility pouch. And it does have velcro in the panel.

Got a tad bit of work to do in some areas, but overall it's looking good! Are you planning on having them wear ACU tops tucked in like I have in my photo, combat shirts, or a combination of both? Also, I know you've already stated that you have no intention of including unit/combat patches, simply because people bitch, moan, and complain but if I could convince you otherwise I'd be pretty damned happy. I'm not saying use 1st ID by any means (even though it was one of the most popular ArmA addons :-[ ), but doing so would add a lot of immersion to the addon. My obvious choices would be 1ID, 2ID, 101st, and of course the infamous 173rd Airborne Brigade (made famous in Afghanistan). The 173rd would be my choice. Anyhoo, I'll let you get on with this excellent work in progress.

I'd laugh my ass off if I got my own character in the game.

EDIT - Minus the M9, all you need are the knee pads. Also, the utility pouch occupies the top rung.

Most tops will be tucked in , although there will be some without.

I can add patches, I don't have a problem. I love having them in, it's just another detail to add. And imo it makes it more personal, and less generic .. (duh).

I'm in the process of making that utility pouch right now , hopefully i should have it in game by tonight.

Added 1 hour 30 minutes later:

sorry about the double post..

anywho.. pretty much done. Zipper needs to be not all around ... I got your nasty looking fc flag in too heh..

it has to be higher up due to the game animations , sadly. gona do the IFAK and fix up my saw pouches ...

Looks awesome..but like everyone else has said. The helmet needs alot of work, it's really awkward looking at the moment.
