I wonder if there is a way to somehow include all necessary addons in a mission so that a user would not have to worry about having the right addons. I have not done much editing and am not sure if this is possible. Thanks ahead of time for any help here.

Hey benwizard and welcome to Armaholic *HI*

To answer your question, you dont need to include as they will be added to the "required addons" as default
when you add them to your mission in the editor, if you open up the "mission.sqm" in the mission folder you
will see a line towards to top which says "addOns" and also "addOnsAuto" here it lists the addons used in
your mission and these WILL be required to play the mission, as default vanilla games you wouldnt need any
other addons but they will still be listed, but as you add custom addons etc the mission will be dependent on
them, so when you add addons, just mention to when you release it what addons are required. You will notice
on our download pages that we have "required addons" this for example if you look at the bottom you will see
that it requires >> ArmA 2, CAA1 project, BAF, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX.

(This way SHOULD work)

Hope that has answered your question.

So I take it there is no way to include all addons into a mission. I thought I had seen something about this before, but it may have been in another game like OFP. I thought there had been a way to put together a mission so that the addons were somehow added into the mission already so a person would not have to have the addons themselves. Perhaps this is not possible. Would be very handy if it was. I hate it when I make a mission and take it to my friends place to let him play it and find he doesn't have the right addons so he can't even look at it. Seems like there would be a way to bundle the mission and addons all together. But thanks for your answer.

# DarkXess : Hey benwizard"required addons" this for example if you look at the bottom you will see

Requirements are also listed at the top :-)

Sure you can add the addons to the mission folder or archive after converting it to pbo, but the file size will be pretty high, even then your friend would have to extract the addon pbo's you used for the mission and make a modfolder himself called @benwizard for example, it is a very good idea as its less hassle for the player which is a massive plus, downside is you dont always know what your downloading with the mission, so when it comes to using the addons that were in your favourite mission (from another author) you'd be hard pressed to find it.

Hey there viper. Thanks for the info. I know this thread is fairly old but would you know how to go about doing that? Lets say if I wanted to take that route and include a small custom addon with the mission so when I host my mission on my server and my friend connects, he/she can download the mission in one shot and play with my custom content.

To be simpler. Basically do you just put the custom addon in the mission folder and have it called from where? Im assuming the SQM? I have not messed with addons too much but when I last did I think that was where the list was that handled what addons were being use a particular mod.

I think a 10k download is fairly low to download when connecting to a server.

It is not possible to have it done like that, you are reading the above info wrong.
You can pack an addon file together with a mission file as a seperate archive however a user would still have to download the mission archive, unpack it, get the addon, install it in an custom addons folder and unpack the mission and put it in his MP mission files.

Packing an addon within a mission.pbo would not make sense as anyone downloading the mission would have to unpbo the mission to get acces to the addon and copy it to his custom addons folder.
