Hi there, even after consulting the FAQ I'm sure I'm just being a biff but here's my issue. I have 8 helicopters doing an insertion under fire to capture an oil refinery however I can't get the helicopters to land, unload their passengers and take off back to base again.

Here's what I CAN do - allow the troops to load onto the static helicopter which then flys to Waypoint 0 where, to make the helicopter land, I have to use the "Get Out" waypoint for the crew. That way it lands, the passengers leave (they have their own waypoint commands which work OK) then the crew gets out and the helicopter shuts down. This is the only way I've been able to make the helicopter land so far.

I've got invisable H points set, I've tried using both/either waypoint commands MOVE and UNLOAD with the OnAct of "chopper land "LAND";" (taken from the FAQ) and no matter what I try the Helicopters just hover above the H point and refuse to land.

What simple thing am I missing? I've never done Scripting before so please go easy on me if this requires Scripts making!

SOLVED - I was using "UNLOAD" alone (un-sync'd to troops "GET OUT") instead of "TRANSPORT UNLOAD" that was sync'd to troops "GET OUT" as the waypoint command. - See Pirin Post below!

You'd want to use a GET OUT waypoint for the squad synchronized with a TRANSPORT UNLOAD waypoint for the helicopter.

The crew gets out and turns off the helo because you told them to with the GET OUT waypoint. Read more about what the different types of waypoints do at the Biki.

Cheers dude, that was the "simple mistake" I was looking for - Transport Unload rather than Unload!

Yeah but at the time it was the only way to do what I wanted them to do. A "Get Out" followed by a 10m "Move" to allow the passengers off then a "Get In" and then fly away. Convoluted but it worked after a fashion, however the correct Transport Unload is the one I was after!

Cheers but the "DoStop" makes the crew shutdown the helicopter. For the effect I wanted (land, passengers only get out, take-off back to base) the "Transport Unload" was the one I was looking for.

Having tested it throughly (it works and is a thing of beauty) I now have 6 TF160 SOAR Blackhawks each with 8 DF onboard as the assault force landing about 150m from the Oil Refinery (which is being prep'd for demolition by 30+ Takistan Militia), 2 HC4 Chinooks each with 24 Brits landing 30sec later about 250m away as reinforcements and perimeter guards (from the 60+ militia stirred up by the assault who make their way from a local village), 2 TF160 SOAR Blackhawks each with 8 DF Fast-Roping in as a cut-off groups 100m behind the Refinery (ground unsuitable for landing) and 2 MH-6 Littlebirds as a flying Distraction to keep the enemy gunners occupied while the landings take place. After dropping off all their tropps all the Helicopters RTB except the Littlebirds. There's even some "Murphy's Law" added as sometimes a few of the Helicopters will crash into one-another as I've grouped things so it's tight (adds more realism and repeatability as you never know if everything will land OK).

All I've left to do is add end triggers (100% of demolition group and 80% of enemy reinforcements dead) and tweaking little bits til I'm happy.

Actaully placing an invisible heli pad(H Invisible) on the Transport unload waypoint. Then the helicopter will land, wait for the passengers to exit, then fly to what ever waypoint you have next.

Cheers, thats what I've done (see screenshot at top) but I'd used "Unload" by mistake instead of "Transport Unload".

***EDIT***
I've made a Youtube video of the Assault (Fast Roping, 6 Blackhawks landing under fire & 2 Chinooks landing with reinforcements) all in 720p in full screen.

I've now added the AC-130 Script from the D/L section here and made a vid from the Gunships Cameras to see what it looks like from above (and lend a little support too!)
