Hello, Armaholics.

I've recently tried to design a simple mission on the mission editor.

The basic outline of the mission is that my friend and I are 2 snipers who have to travel about 2km to the target area. In that target area is an officer standing outside an oil derrick, waiting for the commander to arrive in an SUV with another officer. I have no idea if I've done the Commander in SUV bit right, but that's not important right now. Once we've taken out our target and evaded the enemy forces, we make our way to a lightly guarded air base, steal an old prop driven plane and make our way out.

Very simple. So simple infact that instead of having objectives marked out, I just tell my friend what they are as we go along. I know it's not very well made, but I'm probably the single biggest noob when it comes to making maps. Which is probably where my problem stems from.

I've got basically everything working. I've tried to include small details, so there's traffic and civilians and parked cars and stuff around, the civilians all take the route in the way I expected them to, they all act normal. I'm thinking to myself "Hey, I did a pretty good job for my first mission", we're about 500 metres from the target. He's just in a valley over this hill. I get to the crest, peak over through my NV scope. And there's nothing there. I look around for the patrols I placed, nothing. I run around and around this derrick and I can't see a fucking thing. I run right up to the place where the officer is supposed to be and there's nothing. In frustration I gun my AI partner down and nonchalantly say through the radio "2, is down".

Anyway, that's why I'm here. I need help getting the OPFOR to spawn. There's no complex coding or anything done. I haven't even touched the "Script" box.

Any and all help appreciated.

I think what you might have done, is that you set the opfor units to have a probablity of existance to 0 or some other small number.
When you are editing which unit you are setting down, just above the script box I believe, there should be a bar that sets how probable it is for that unit to be active in the particular mission that you are creating, the more full the bar, the more likely it will be for that unit to spawn when you enter the simulation.
Make sure that the bar is full, so there is a 100% probability that the unit will be spawned on start.
Hope that works out for you :)

All problems can be solved with the correct application of high explosives

Thanks, I will try that. I believe there's a box saying something along the lines of "Spawn factors"(?) and in that it says "true".

However, if I do infact have existance at 0 or "another small number" what should I set it as to get them to exist? Is it simple binary in which "1" will be true and "0" is false. Or is it a percentage sort of thing where "1" = 1% chance and "100" is 100% chance?

The probability of existence is in percents, so set it to 100, that way he will have a 100% chance of spawning. Though im not sure how this would have happened, because it's supposed to be set to 100 by default, unless you changed it without noticing :-D

Anyways, try checking that out, if that doesnt work then I will try to help as best I can.

Why drive when you can fly?

Thanks for the help guys.

I've finished the mission. Still very, very simple though. Haha, I guess it'll come with practise.

I'm not sure what happened, but once I selected each enemy and manually slid their percentage of spawning down to nothing then back to 100%, it seemed to work.
