Hy, like the title says...

im going to buy my first notebook and im not sure if arma(1) will run smooth since it needs ~2,5ghz cpu power.
laptop system is:

acer aspire
intel dual 6600 2x2,13 ghz (thats what frightens me most)
geforce 240m
4bg ram

anyone has experience with mobile pc gaming or give me a hint whether it is a good one or not?

Running Arma on a laptop is not going to make you a happy player. Either you buy a beast of a laptop or no laptop at all. That is at least my opinion :-)

hy Foxhound,
nothing comes between me and my desktop in case of gaming. but to some reasons ill need a portable station to run this game. i read about a guy who uses exactly this laptop and runs A2 on it. and it runs good (he says).
id rather find another solution but i have no choice.

the game itself wont care whether its a desktop or laptop but will it run good with 2,13ghz i.e. multiple vehicles and troops...?
im surely clear about dropping graphics but... have no other choice!

Well, if that other guys says it runs good and you believe him........just buy it.
I think it depends on what you think is acceptable, I tried Armed Assault on a laptop back than (Duo core, not dual) and I quickly uninstalled it without trying to even tweak it.
Also, which acer laptop is that? I can't find any info about that processor. Are you sure you got the specs right?

why did u deinstall? too much lag when it was getting hot?
thats what im worrying about.
the guy said A2. A2 supports dual-core, so 2x2ghz should be fine. but in A1 u only have 2ghz then which is not that much.
anyway the laptop is an acer aspire 8735g 744g64bnbk. the price i could get it for is really nice so id like to know if someone has experience running A1 on a laptop.

It will run, the question is just how it will run.

Constant 60 fps with everything on max and in 1920x1080 resolution surely won't work.

Remember this: There are people around with actual desktop PCs which have problems with performance, and now compare the rather poor hardware in your Notebook.

Finally ArmA is by far not that optimized as ArmA2 is, so the performance might be even worse.

Like said, it can run ArmA. But if you will enjoy it is another question.
