Vanilla ArmA: ArmA played without any mods/fixes/addons.

Basically when you don't use any addons then you have an vanilla ArmA.

If ArmA only came in Vanilla, I'd have to find a new game with more available flavors, I just can't imagine playing ArmA without mods.

Apperantly this is how you test an addon. That way you know it doesn't conflict with anything else.

Vanilla is a widely used term to describe any easily modded game in its factory state.

IE: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has many addons, but when you first install it, it is Vanilla Oblivion.

I agree with lebson506th
a vanilla game is how the game comes from the factory with factory patches but NO mods. I played Silent Hunter III and when I installed the game from CD this is vanilla. You can then copy the game files to another location and add mods to this new location leaving the original in place to be used if the mod fails our becomes corrupt.
