# rafael52 : http://nbclatino.com/2012/09/05/caught-on-cam-deaf-couple-gets-arrested/ I won't argue anymore with you since you arrest people for absolutely no reason. At least our cops told them why they were arrested.
The mother of three who was arrested for taking pictures of a completely civilian airfield wasn't enough, now its become an issue of whose country's can make the more stupid arrest? *CRAZY*
Perhaps than we need to better outline whatgoals we should realistically expect to achieve before doing anything.

Well we could go on and on for days, weeks and months discussing about which country sucks more or is closer to a police state already. Every day people are arrested for nothing. The question is how fast they are released again then.
And fact is that if we don't be on alert all the time, all our countries sooner or longer turn into police states.

Instead we now maybe should discussing what could be done help the two guys as best as we can. And for that the help of the Greece community guys is not only appreciated but needed. Because if someone knows their laws and country then them. :-)

So if you think that the two guys should be arrested and send to jail, this thread is the wrong one for you and you gtfo please okay. 8-)

Someone said protest is pointless - maybe that's true in this case and for the 'oldest democracies around' a true shame. But if no one ever would raise his voice, the world would be a much worse place. And protesting is still better than sitting in your corner and thinking 'whatever... I can't do anything anyway'.

# GenPatton43 : And its not like Google Earth can't be hacked either to get real time images.

No need.

If one was so inclined (a civilian or company that is), you could simply hire GeoEye, which is a public NGO to take hi-res sat imagery of the entire island. Sat imagery that is accurate down to 2 meters. Espionage charges... I still don't understand how they can get away with that.

They were released. The charges were dropped. The Officers were given leave without pay. The Officers are now under investigation by Federal authorities for Civil and Constitutional Rights violations.

@GenPatton43 No it's not about the stupidest arrest. But I wanted to show you that greece is not the only country that makes arrests.

@W0lle I can only give you the greek constitution in english.I haven't found any site with all the greek laws in it.

@DetCord It doesn't stop being a stupid arrest.

Agreed. As for the Limnos arrests... well, part of me wants to believe this has been blown out of proportion by Greek authorities. The other part of me is somewhat convinced they knew what they were doing was a violation of Greek law, and they proceeded to do it anyway. Too bad they'll spend several months in prison prior to the trial, I'd like to get a few more details behind the story before passing judgement either way.

Totally agree with you,it was wrong that "some" people here started that kind of discussion ;)

Being arrested and going to jail are different things,as respecting the law.No matter what each of us believes about the issue,I'm sure we all want a good ending for them.
About the law,I will once more say what my other compatriots said above so you could have an idea.As a citizen with no law expertise,I do know that
1)I shouldn't photograph military bases
2)I shouldn't enter fenced areas with military signs to take pics
3)I shouldn't take pics of areas with "no photo" sign even if no military base can be seen around
4)When we served in the army during our obligatory duty,we weren't allowed to take pics either.

I don't know which laws cover the above,or if there are 100% laws about them, but that's the general idead that I had.Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not.
SO in my opinion, although I'm not a law expert, it's better to let Bohemia do their job in coordination with the Czech embassy.Lawyers and ambassadors are the ones with best knowledge not only of law but of the legal procedures that follow this issue. It's really difficult to get any information of the status of case if you're just a citizen the only sources are news (which didn't say anything new) and those involved,so I guess we should wait till Bohemia give us a new announcement.

I said something similar, they do have to expalin themselves to the courts, but the way I see it..
Greek authority is attempting to enforce 'espionage' in complete disregard of the innocence of those accused.
That is to say, they should have been released [within 24hrs if not] immediately.
Enforcing a law by flouting it's definition, would be an outrage.
I for one am happy to petition our own Governments to put pressure on Greece to stop this archaic behaviour should it continue!

....that's all folks....!

I'll be waiting for the first organized petition or protest if the community starts one. After reading articles like this: http://www.dlwaldron.com/N17.html and doing a bit of study on my own regarding Greek law, I realized I don't have anything else to add to this discussion (without offending our friendly Greeks and getting tossed out of the forums). I am saddened for their families and I sincerely hope against the odds that political pressure forces Greece to release these guys.

Despite the apparent interest from BIS into at least listening to anything that fans/members might have to add?
UmmmmK. *SORRY*

It's the first time I read something like that about greece. If greece was ever like this it'd fit more the 1967-74 period.

I can't believe some of you are behaving so childishly in this thread! One question: how the hell would you know if they weren't really spies? I mean real spies usually don't have an "I'm a spy" T-shirt on them! :) It might well be that they're real spies who were caught doing some serious espionage. You don't know that, so you don't have any real arguments to dismiss that possibility.
Also, I don't believe that the Greek government would simply arrest random people like that. They must have had some reasonably strong suspicion to make the arrests. So I wouldn't engage in such brazen disqualifications if I were you.
My 2 cents...

God, their not bloody spies...That was some funny reading. People with no solid info getting a little carried away.
