Thanks to Bushlurker, favslev works beautifully in A3 using the "A3MP" addon to enable A2 maps in A3.

In case anyone else got the same problem as I did where A3 stops working with your map, my fault was a config error with the outside terrain parameter which doesnt work in A3. So enableTerrainSynth = 1; needs to be 0; :-)


So.. Changes and progress. :)

Im replacing all textures from scratch, higher resolutions and messing with them a bit in photoshop to make it look nicer.
Also, adding a beach on the entire east side of the map. Inspired from our huge danish.... west-side shoreline... But it fitted more on the east side of Favslev. *DONT_KNOW*

Now for some screenshots, and Im happy with it so far. It looks really great in A3, but please remember theres still alot to do. Im gonna release this if Im happy with the outcome when Im done. This is a huge job for me, especially when considering im not even playing/using this game anymore! *CRAZY*

Well sorry, I should have asked this in my previous post already to not further bother you with unrelated things.

But, do you plan to drop all Arma 2 support or will this Arma 3 version be all new and people can choose wether to install the Arma 3 and/or the Arma 2 version (depending on their game)?

Cause, if you plan to leave the Arma 2 file as it is and the Arma 3 file will be new/additional I think we should leave that Arma 2 forum thread open for anyone who wishes to use it.

Good point. I have never even given it any thought about support in A2.
Actually I dont know if the new map will work in A2 because of config changes. Let me test it out a bit and if it still works in A2, and I'll get back to you if thats allright?

Sure, take your time.

Maybe if this new version does no longer work in Arma 2 you can just leave the current A2 version available for those who wish to use it but you just no longer offer support for it. Only the A3 version will get fixes, updates and your support?

That way people who wish to stick to A2 can keep using your work while those who moved to Arma 3 get all the lovely nice hot new updates and fixes?

Just my thoughts, you are the author so you can decide which way you think it is best to handle your work ;-)

Yay, finally a 3rd party map for Arma 3 that actually looks like it's made for Arma 3 and not some lazy port!

This is amazing. I never played Arma 2, but when I saw the Favslev map, I hoped it'd some day be ported to Arma 3.
I'm excited to see this map live. :)

Hey Muggi, so this map is going to be a redux/improved version of the old one, but is it going to require ArmA 2? I assume yes because you mentioned arma 2 buildings right? If it does require Arma 2, please do NOT make it require a3mp, if someone wants to play it with that fine but I would like to also be able to use all in arma with this map, if you dont make it require a3mp but just the arma 2 stuff, anyone with a3mp or AiA should be able to use it as far as I am aware.

I have to admit I cant even remember whats up and down on this anymore. I've pretty much moved on to other and more complex simulators/games, so I havent worked on it for most of 2014. As of right now, progress is not being made.

Not to sound ungrateful, (well, I do sound it but..) the whole future-thing, the massive "port over" from A2 and the ridiculous AI I believe it to be in A3 made me bail this wagon pretty much for good. I think they skipped the fence on this one. I dont know, theres something about it I absolutely hate which made me quit it.


Sidetracking a bit, sorry.. Anyhow..

Other than the default A2 + Arrowhead buildings/vegetations it uses two A2 building addons and thats why it needs a3mp right now as I remember it.
Also, the config demanded some changes so that the weather, light and water looked more like Denmark in A3. - Changes that makes it look really wierd in A2.

As of right now, making favslev work properly in A2 again is at the very bottom of my todo list and if I do it, will be the very last thing after releasing for A3.
I havent yet decided if I want to release it as it is now, so I'll wait a bit longer to see if I find interest in finishing it up a bit more and maybe by then there will be some awesome community created addons that goes well with the map. ;)


The status right now is that there are some parts of the map that I am very unhappy with, but I did manage to make replace half of the groundtexture on the map before I stopped. The amount of work and energy it takes to make these things requires to much of my time right now. So I'll have to make up my mind on what to do from here on. I feel defeated!


And I want to thank all of you who supported me in the development so far, and continues to do so. It's a big help and motivation to see when people are looking forward to the massive amount of hours and work it takes to create something like this! Thanks!
