I want to chanee the name of certain mods because i have lots and i dont like using mod managers and the file suggested thing that you offer i like to edit them myself so is it ok to change the name of mods e.g WEAPON_M14 and i change it to MODWEAPON_M14 will this effect the mod?

You can change the name of the modfolder if that's what you mean. If that doesn't work then open the modfolder and look for a file called mod.cpp , open it and change the part that says name to what ever name you like. That's only for some big mods though.
Basically yes its ok to change the name of the mods

Changing the included names could of course cause issues with missions which depend on that addon and maybe bisign files will also no longer be considered valid so you can no longer use the mod/addon online, even though the server allows it (cause you changed the file).
