Okay, I think it's not necessary to explain what CWR² is all about.
I made this new thread so this is not mixed up with the stable v1.01 version. Once v1.02 is called stable, this thread will be closed. So please, use this thread only
for v1.02 related feedback.
Now, back in Summer I decided to continue the work on CWR² on my own, mainly because I can make changes faster and without discussing every little aspect to death.
Another main reason was that the majority of the team became idle and I had to literally beg for every little bit of work to be done; or even worse: people promised to do stuff and then simply walked away without a word.
In the past years of CWR² Development we spent more time on waiting for people delivering nothing than we did anything else. I simply had enough of sitting around and wait for nothing to be delivered.
While I’m not really an expert when it comes to models and textures, I can do at least basic work on my own and fix minor issues. The result isn’t comparable to experts like ebud, gromov or Max Power. But none of them are in the team anymore and I had only two options left: Continue on my own as best as I can or give the whole Mod up and walk away as well.
It would have been a shame if all the work and time spent over the past years would have been lost. So I’ve gone for the latter even though I need days to do stuff where an expert would only need an hour or two.
Now, after several months of work, testing and tweaking I think it’s time to finally give you the new version to play with. And while doing so, you eventually find a few more issues to fix or small additions to add.
I’m pretty much open for all suggestions as long as they are kept reasonable. I can’t add more tanks or planes or helicopters as they are way too complicated for my skills. Adding another (existing) rifle, ammunition or a unit variant should be no problem.
Please, be aware of this:
I develop CWR² for myself. Sharing it with you is a privilege, not a right. So don't even think about demanding anything.
But most important is this: Be aware that things can change in this new version. I doubt that any dramatic changes will be made anymore but nothing is set in stone either.
All CWR² Expansions are not compatible with this new version!
Don't even consider using them with v1.02 and then complain about bugs! I will release updated Expansions in 2016 cause before doing so, I want to have a stable v1.02 which hopefully I don't have to update again ever.
Speaking about updates: There will be updated single pbo files for this beta version every here and then. These updates will be signed and eventually even will have a changelog included. The updates will be shared via google drive only with the links posted in this thread.
Dealing with this beta version, the updates and expansions require at least basic knowledge of Windows file handling. If you have no idea how to extract a pbo file and copy it into a Mod folder on your hard drive, then better leave it and stick with click'n'play Steam.
Finally, cause people asked several times in the past. No, I don't accept any donations. A long time ago the team decided to go this way and I'll stick to what we decided. The Cold War Rearmed Mod always was free, and it will remain free. If it's not free of charge, or demanding donations then it's not Cold War Rearmed.
Instead of donating me money, donate it to a welfare organization of your choice. There are enough people out there who needs help more than I do.
