I've just failed a sniping mission in the campaign because I couldn't use the telescope sight. I suppose it should just be the same as the m24 rifle sight in the original OFP, so what exactly does those dots on the vertical crosshair represent? How exactly do I adjust the focus so that I can simply aim with the crosshair? Any help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Don't you have a scope on your sniper rifle? Or doesnt it let you look through it?
Or, do you mean you can use the scope but your shots miss?

If you can use it but you do not hit anything you will have to adjust your fire. Aim higher if the units are further away.
If they are walking aim in front of them, if they are running aim even more in front of them.

Is it the sniper mission where you have to get on top of this water tower? I played that one and actually didnt have any problems.
Try to look very carefully if you see you bullets hit the ground, that way you know if you are firing to short, or are overshooting, or........

I think he means how to use the dots in the sniper zoom reticle.

If u check any sniper info site, u will see how with those dots u get the "length" of the target and then u can convert that to know the distance the target is from ur position. So u can adjust then the shot.

I really don't know where the zero is for that rifle in the game, could be at 300 meters. I cant remember, but when i tried a sound addons i couldn't hit anything testing the m24. I posted in the forums and they said something about what distance the target was and i think they said something about 300 meters.

Maybe killgore, who is good with the sniper rifle, can tell u something more :D

I want to know how to determine the range to target by adjusting the zoom of the sight. Is it true that the elevation of the rifle is correctly set when the distance between the closest two vertical dots is about the height of an averge person? I mean, when you're looking through the sight. My shots constantly fell short or overshot and some of the enemies fled out of sight.

This is actually a good question but I'm pretty sure that in ArmA, they also take into account wind do they not?

There u see how it works, u have to check that there are to different mildots (round and oval), the m24 uses the round one i guess.

I checked it a bit and after reading it, i would try to work with the game editor for some practice.
I guess its the best u can do to learn how the sniper rifle works.
