it's been almost 10 years since I joined this forum. I hope everyone's had a great time in the meantime.
Life took me elsewhere but somehow brought me back to these shores. During a nice dinner with friends and colleagues we were discussing running a circle of gaming livestreams and use the startup to spin off a non-profit idea to give money to charity. Due to some personal matters that shook us in the recent past, my colleagues and I want to raise awareness and help. We work and live with video games so one of the projects that came up was related to gaming and streaming.
This is where I come in:
For better or worse, I was "put" in charge of ArmA 3. I'll be streaming all the campaigns and single player missions from all the DLCs, on a regular basis, sometimes probably even in 24-hour streams. We haven't decided on the streaming platform, yet (there are some obvious choices but it's all open to debate) but I know - for sure - I'll have to build a rig that will be dedicated to this purpose.
I am sure I can get some help, in here. Budget is not unlimited (I so wish I could say the opposite) but it's not looking bad. I know ArmA 3 is always under heavy debate performance-wise against builds and I know this might be the place to gather info. I know my team is discussing sponsors and endorsements but I also don't want - in this phase - to be thinking about it. I'd rather go with what works.
Once this project will be over, the rig itself will be put for sale and the money sent to charity, again. So anyone has a chance to get this rig eventually, for a fraction of the cost plus any donation (if any) you might want to add!
Feel free to fill in (even partially) the following:
- Graphics Card
- Power Supply
- Fans, RGB Leds and other accessories
I'll be honest with you.. I was very reluctant, initially and it took some serious work for my friends to persuade me. There's no turning back now and I know the purpose is good and true. I am kinda excited to say that in the future this could lead to a streaming of special events (we'd have no issue putting one up in a snap, I know the people I share the desks with) and involve some of the amazing teams, big and small, active in ArmA 3!
To add to the fun of the context: I was given ArmA 3 as a gift (from these very people I am working with for this project) when it came out ..but I never played it. I never installed, I never even watched a single video on the internet. Trust me, it's true: only a few (amazing) screenshots. It's kinda funny to think about that, I guess I felt I needed some time away and also had a very, very busy and adventurous life afterwards. Anyway..
This message was posted on the BIS forums as well. I read the current TOS and it seems this is no breach of terms but if it is, please let me know and sorry for the inconvenience.
