How do I change the name of a group..so that when joining it in multiplayer the group says Alpha instead of 1-1-A?

this setGroupId["Alpha","GroupColor0"]

1-1-A is Alpha. But you could change the groupname to "Alpha squad". In the groupleaders init line type:

this setGroupid ["Alpha squad","GroupColor0"]

What do i put for just one player? like rifleman to 'radio operator'

You would do the same for group. What I'm thinking is you mean something along the lines of having a description for the unit, on the player select screen and in-game? You can add the description to the player when you place them down in the editor.

(for arma) does not work for me.
exported to MP and started a session. i get the players showing with their names as given in the description line but the squad name still shows 1-1-a

i did enter the line as the first modification in the group leaders init line and even tried it with this as the only modifier. no success.

question: could it be that this is due to a mod? i only run ACE. i cant really see how that would cause it but i ask nonetheless...

So try it with this:

(group this) setGroupId ["Assault Squad"]

hmm, still no joy. tried few variations of this. not getting any error message but it wont rename the squad either.

i know this is old but where do i put that script? in the group leaders init?
