Today, IDEA Games and Bohemia Interactive announced the official Standalone expansion pack to ArmA II - Operation Arrowhead.
IDEA Games and Bohemia Interactive have announced the development of ARMA II Operation Arrowhead; the standalone expansion pack to ARMA II. Watch for more during GamesCom, which takes place this August 19-23 in Cologne, Germany.
Three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original ARMA II, a new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to quickly restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties.
Set into the new, visually attractive environment of hilly central Asia, Operation Arrowhead will offer realistic combat simulation experience in a modern day setting with unprecedented freedom of movement, actions and tactics. Players will enlist into various roles within the US Army, from basic infantrymen, through special operatives, to pilots and tank crew in this new installment in the award winning line up of military simulators for PC from Bohemia Interactive.
Anyways, this looks amazing just by the two screenshots. I really like the look of the new area its taking place in, looks really nice. Im confused though, is it taking place in some place in Asia or Takistan? I know Takistan is technically in Asia, Im just wondering if there's going to be two conflicts going on.
I dont even care about the new campaign, I just cant wait for the new map and units!!!
i not to sure about a expansion this early ,but like always i buy it as i like the arma 2 game, just worry that if i would have save my money. i could just buy the new game with most of the bugs sorted out.
but i am looking forward to the add on.
i must be crazy

Man this looks good... Can't wait to go play it. And please stop talking about bugs..They are really no show stopper in ARMA.. For me personally i barely notice them. But one thing i know is that ARMA will alway's have bugs... Larger islands more units more chances for bugs. But they are working on the bugs don't worry.. If you want to keep bring them up go to the ARMA bug tracker website.
No...Takistan is a real location in Iran. Except in Iran its called Tākestān. So whatever, if BI thinks they're making it on a fictional country, they're wrong.
First of all, whom ever said BIS should concentrate on fixing the game.... wait how do you know they aren't, and second of all who says BIS is even working on the expansion all that much. I wouldn't doubt if they've already made most of the stuff and probably could have released it in vanilla A2 but that would be terrible business practice in my opinion. They need to have multiple sources of revenue in order to even survive as a business. Hence expansion packs. Again, I wouldn't doubt if they've already been working on these models, etc for quite some time and thus the "entire" company doesn't have to completely focus on the expansion.
Bottomline, if you think they've stopped working on fixing bugs and such you are nuts.

Trust me, Just because there's a town in In Iran called Takistan, doesn't mean there're basing it there, if a game came out where the US Army was fighting the Iranians, there would be international outrage, all of BI's previous games has been located somewhere fictional, why won't this one be?
Set into the new, visually attractive environment of hilly central Asia,
Iran is not in Asia, nor is it very hilly, and there is no such thing as the Green Sea.
posts like the your doesn't help the game to be better... making in evidence the bugs of arma is useful,
people saying" oh is great, dont change nothing" it doesn't give to bis the right input to improve the game.
im a vet. of arma 1, i usually play arma 2 ( trust me yuo can't fkin imagine how many hours i've played this game);
im not here to ruin the image of BIS. but plz stop arguing against the critics like a little funboy.
sorry i didn't choice the post reply option; i was responding to winchesterdelta1 post in page 1..
p.s. i don't think you have realized how many players will leave arma 2 for ofp 2 (im in contact wil a lot of clans..) because they are bored of the BIS politic, this little software house is wasting an immense potential.
