takistan is fictional i presume they choose to mix it up a little as not to offend any one nation as they have always done
just like chenarus is a fictional country but the map has towns that have been moddled from real world places

the blue mosque looks suspiciously familiar to the one in mazar e sharif northern afghanistan wich no too far from the border of tajikistan ,if its based on that area (wich it suure looks like from the hamlet buildings and the attire of the civiian and insurgents units )its probly how they got the name takistan

afghanistan + tajikistan = takistan

as we see at precent date the geoplotical climate in central asia is of great concern
afghanistans and packistans autonomus waziristan region is fighting for what it see as it own indipend state as are many many other peoples in regions of the pan asian area know as auto determination this seriously threatens to isolate poeples and create even more possible future conflicts wich is not good .in the futre a symilar situation could hypothetically happen between the borders of afghanistan and tajikistan i belive that is the motive of the whole storyline ,hopefull more will be revealed befoe the release date

cant wait :yay
see you there :2devil

Yep. It was even front-paged here on Armaholic, but I think it's dropped to second page now. And well, it's the official press release date. I got no idea why BIS hasn't posted it in their forum or on arma2.com though.

Lol. from this preview - http://www.armaholic.com/index.php?m=single&id=10298 - It looks almost like they are using the SARMAT AN-2

Oh, anybody notice the Gold Revolver?

Armstrong-"Something's burning over there, see the smoke?"
Carillo-"That's not smoke it's dust!"

Yeah I heard. Read it on the Task Force Lion forums this morning & talked to him about an hour ago. It's a sad day for Sahrani. :(

I can't wait for this expansion to come out. I love it because it's got desert maps, the German army in it, new vehicles and weapons (of course) and a couple of new modules for example the town generator. When it's on the self I'm getting it.

Can't wait,
HelloCam3

It means you can use the material included in ArmA 2 in Operation Arrowhead as well.

Really really really hoping we get that "Sahrani feeling" back again with this game. So, I'm looking forward to it in that way. Incase I didn't say it already???? I pretty much hate Chernarus.

I've gotta agree. Chernarus is nice, but it sucks in terms of performance. And the grass, god I hate the grass.

I'm really looking forward to enterable buildings and a new scud (hopefully) it lands somewhere).

Personally I *love* Chernarus. But I also like variation. I do miss maps like it looks we'll get for Takistan (i.e. Afghan Village and whatever Opteryx's lovely small Iraq-city-map for ArmA1 is called), so they are really, really welcome.

Meridian4 Acquires North American Rights to ‘ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead’ for PC

New Stand-Alone Release Hits Shelves June 29

Meridian4 today announced it has secured the North American retail publishing rights to Bohemia Interactive’s new stand-alone, expansion pack, ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead. Additionally, Meridian4 is also planning on introducing ARMA II Combined Operations, a special edition bundle that consists of the original award winning ArmA II game and Operation Arrowhead. Both offerings are schedule to hit retailers across North America on June 29.

“We are excited to partner with Bohemia Interactive to bring these two outstanding offerings to gamers,” said Steve Milburn, Marketing Director, of Meridian4. “With new playable content and new simulation features, ArmA II : Operation Arrowhead is a robust PC game that does not require the original ArmA II, yet is fully backwards compatible, so owners of the first game can enjoy the new features and a whole new experience.”

The action resumes in ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original Arma II. A new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to quickly restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties.

In ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead’s all-new single-player and multiplayer campaigns, players will experience new large-scale maps, and new simulation features that include new radio chatter and languages, controllable Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, thermal imaging, decoy flares and smoke screen cover. Additionally, owners of the original Arma II will now be able to utilize Operation Arrowhead’s new weaponry, vehicles and factions in the multiplayer mode of Arma II, breathing new life into the battle.

For more information on ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead, please visit: http://www.arma2.com/arrowhead/arrowhead.html.
