FA stance [ALPHA]
by
Head and harakka
Description:
This clientside addon adds a UI display showing the player's current stance.
The stance is shown in the bottom left corner and it consists of a human silhouette and a modifier arrow. If the player is standing in the highest stance the display shows an upright silhouette with an up arrow, and if the player is crouched and sidestepping left it'll show a crouched silhouette with a left arrow, et cetera.
When player is in one of the middle stances, the display becomes partially transparent. The display is hidden when player is in a vehicle, cutscene view or similar. The silhouette's texture changes when you're in high or low prone
stance, to remind you that you can't move unless you change your stance.
You can customize the display's position on screen, and whether it fades when you're in one of the main stances, by editing userconfig\fa\stance_config.hpp.
Installation:
Extract into the ArmA 3 Directory, by default this is located in:
32-Bit - C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Common/ArmA 3/
64-Bit - C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/ArmA 3/
After extraction it should look like this:
Steam/Steamapps/Common/ArmA 3/@your_mod_folder_name
You can also use the "Arma 3 Alpha" folder in your "My Documents" folder.
Place the "userconfig" folder into your game install folder, usually:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3".
You'll also need add a Launch Parameter to Steam, in order to do so right-click on ArmA 3 Alpha and click Properties and then Set Launch Options. In the window that opens enter in -mod=@your_mod_folder_name
For using multiple mods you would then do so like this:
-mod=@mod_name;@mod_name2;@mod_name3;@mod_name4;@mod_name5
Note:
You can also use -nosplash to get rid of the splash art and intro videos.
When the above information still does not provide you with enough to learn how to install custom addons and mods you can always ask in our
Guide On Installing Mods.

Usage:
Edit userconfig\fa\stance_config.hpp to change the display's position on the screen.
If your game crashes, you forgot to install the userconfig directory.
FAQ
Q: Why don't you have a separate icon for each stance?
A: It is difficult to make small graphics for each of the stances and their modifications that can still be distinguished with a quick glance. We found the arrow system to be more informative and recognizable.

A very good idea !
I hope you will update it with all the stance pictures like the sitting combat position for example.
Thanks.
Keep on
I made a picture for an example of the new sitting stance in ArmA III:

Got a suggestion: Instead of having the arrows indicate what stance you're currently in, have the arrows indicate what stance you can go to. So say this O is your stand stance. This should be what it looks like:
^
< O >
v
This indicates that in the standing stance, you can lean out to the left and right, go up to high standing, or go down to low standing.
i like the addon as it is.
@spidestone
all pictures would just make it confusing.
i see that a sitting pic would be nice but it would break the logic of the arrow system
@antoineflemming
that wouldnt be useful at all imo.
