This is a client side mod to link with mumble natively. It will provide directional and positionally attenuated VOIP when using Mumble.
This will raise sound quality, range and directional perception of communications to mumble standards.
Note that Mumble audio is processed on the client side this means you have to assume that someone that does not use this mod or uses other settings can hear even people farther (to unlimited) away. Spying on you is possible. For a future idea an approach of using a server side communications filtering or the PR_Mumble approach might be helpful.
This project in concept will be very close to the Minecraft mod (http://sourceforge.net/projects/modmumblelink/) I made.
Extract into the ArmA 3 Directory, by default this is located in:
32-Bit - C:\Program Files\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
64-Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\
After extraction it should look like this:
You can also use the "Arma 3 Alpha" folder in your "My Documents" folder. Your folder setup could than look like for example this:
When present place the "userconfig" folder into your game install folder, usually:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3".
You may already have "userconfig" folder from other addons and/or mods in which case it is safe to merge the contents from this archive.
You'll also need to add a Launch Parameter to Steam, in order to do so right-click on ArmA 3 Alpha and click Properties and then Set Launch Options. In the window that opens enter in -mod=@your_mod_folder_name
For using multiple mods you would then do so like this:
You can also use -nosplash to get rid of the splash art and intro videos.
And of course you can also enable and disable community made addons and mods through the in-game Options Expansions menu if you do not want to mess with startup parameters!
When the above information still does not provide you with enough to learn how to install custom addons and mods you can always ask in our Guide On Installing Mods.
1 - In settings dialog check "Advanced" (bottom left)
2 - "Link to Game and Transmit Position" activated,
restart after setting this option (this mod will not work without it!!!)
3 - Maximum Distance: 70m
(this value will determine when others are too far away to be heard)
4 - Minimum Volume: 0%
(this value makes you not hear people beyond Maximum Distance)
5 - untick "Attenuate applications by... " "while other users talk" and "while you talk"
(mumble would dampen Minecraft's audio if ticked)
6 - bind a key ("Shortcut") to "Shout/Wisper" "Shout to Channel" select "Current" Channel and make sure to check "Ignore positional audio" (this will enable you to speak to everyone no matter how far away they are or what their settings are)
You should get a hint message "Mumble linked." once you are in a mission.
You should get a "ArmA3 linked." message in the log of your Mumble client.
There is no required order, either Mumble or ArmA can be started first.
