Description: BIS recently released the assets for Take On Helicopters, which you can access here: https://www.bistudio.com/community/licenses/licensed-data-packages All credit to Bohemia for releasing this! The immense size of the South Asia map, 122km X 122km or 14884km^2, really interested me and I dug through the .pbos to see if I could get it working in Arma 3. Lo and behold, I was successful. The size of the mod is a little over 8gb, 6gb is map data, 2gb is repackaged assets. It is standalone from AiA even though it uses takistan/zargabad buildings. I did end up including water.pbo, which just has the ambient water vehicles. It has no effect on how the map plays and since I only realized after I had uploaded it and it's only 152mb, I will not change it for now. Even though the only work I did was to package some .pbos and upload them, I decided to release it anyway to see if I could create interest in this map. The immense size has it's downsides, a big part of the map is filled with barren desert and empty mountains and the ground detail is pretty low. Installation: Extract into the ArmA 3 Directory, by default this is located in: 32-Bit - C:\Program Files\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\ 64-Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam/Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\ After extraction it should look like this: Steam\Steamapps\Common\ArmA 3\@your_mod_folder_name\addons\ You can also use the "Arma 3 Alpha" folder in your "My Documents" folder. Your folder setup could than look like for example this: mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name1\addons\ mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\ mydocuments\Arma3 Alpha\@your_mod_folder_name2\addons\ When present place the "userconfig" folder into your game install folder, usually: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3". You may already have "userconfig" folder from other addons and/or mods in which case it is safe to merge the contents from this archive. You'll also need to add a Launch Parameter to Steam, in order to do so right-click on ArmA 3 Alpha and click Properties and then Set Launch Options. In the window that opens enter in -mod=@your_mod_folder_name For using multiple mods you would then do so like this: -mod=@mod_name;@mod_name2;@mod_name3;@mod_name4;@mod_name5 Note: You can also use -nosplash to get rid of the splash art and intro videos. And of course you can also enable and disable community made addons and mods through the in-game Options Expansions menu if you do not want to mess with startup parameters! When the above information still does not provide you with enough to learn how to install custom addons and mods you can always ask in our Guide On Installing Mods. Included files: *.pbo Credits & Thanks: I'll state again that most of the work that went into this is by BIS and their Take On Helicopters team, and all credit is to them. Changelog: v1.0 - first release Forum topic: - BI forums Enable javascript to be able to download from Armaholic please! |
this has potential to become a really good map for Arma 3! will give it a download. all the massive ground battles and air engagements i can think of..
Any torrent links for downloads? I took armaholic once, and it broke within the last 10 minutes of downloading. Dont want to give this another try and wait 3 hours.
I was intrigued and tried it , however i got less errors by simply downloading the BIS files from Steam and making an @folder with the required pbos in addons folder .
What about the seattle map. Is this thing available too? Even if those maps are inappropriate for infantry or ground vehicles (i could remember how horrible it looks, when being on the ground back in TOH-Times), they might be the first maps to fully use the potential of the arma 3 air assets. Giving it all a kind of "DCS-touch".
Can someone give me a link for a working download? Everytime i try this one it says files are damaged!
The real location:
Lake Havasu

Same problem as Detlev, I can't unzip the folder.
hey I got a problem with this. I cannot start it, it says I needs cup or something. Even when I only start it with cba. Any solution ?
Can those maps (Seattle and South-Asia) work in Arma 2 and if so how!? Anyone has done this by now after all those years!?
