A little history…
SSL Mod has its beginnings in the middle of the year
2011, not compliant with the lighting of
ArmA 2 and absolutely convinced that the lighting of
Armed Assault was better, I put to work to use its configuration as a base for a mini mod that would replace the ArmA2 lighting with Armed Assault.
I started making different changes, sometimes they were very good changes and sometimes really a disaster; Until I achieve what I was looking for, at least for my liking, to obtain a much clearer and more defined illumination.
Over time I left him a little careless, in
2016 I decided to continue modifying him, and I give him the
SSL name
"Sky Sun & Lighting", in
2017 due to health problems the mod was abandoned, and in
2019 after my recovery I returned to work on it. Initially the mod was for
ArmA2, currently it is for
Arma2 Operation Arrowhead / Combined Operations.
From
2011 until the writing of these lines, few people had access to this mini mod and they were the ones who encouraged me to release it.
Description:
It changes the global lighting of the islands, textures of the sky and prevents being blinded by light sources. Also has a module with 15 color profiles.
Installation:
To install SSL - Sky Sun & Lighting we always recommend use modfolders to seperate the custom content from the official game content to prevent problems. For different ways to set up your modfolders and use them please visit our

Usage:
Requirements:
ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead or ArmA 2 Combined Operations.
The mod is activated by default, the color profiles are loaded from the mission editor.
Open the mission editor, select modules in the right panel of the mission editor or press the F7 key, then double click anywhere on the map, search the list of modules for SSL profiles and select the desired profile.
SSL Colors module:
The SSL Colors module currently has 15 different profiles, some have a specific name like Takistan, Falujah, etc., but any profile can be used on any island, those profiles were simply created trying to look good on that island specifically.
There are also profiles that specify:
Day/Night or only
Day
Day/Night Profiles: Looks good day and night
Profiles Day: They look good by day, but at night they look very dark, at least for my liking. You can try it to see how it is, maybe you like it.
Shadow profiles lvl 1, 2, 3...
These profiles make the shadows/black color even darker.
(in the pdf that is inside the @ssl folder there are images of samples of the different levels of shadows)

Thanks for releasing this mod.
But to be honest, I already get the good ligtning and color I want using ReShade. The point about ReShade is that we can change each parameter to what we want unlike in a mod that don't let us change every detail.
But I'm sure that your mod will be at the taste of some people !

I also used ENB and also reshade, but I wanted to make a mod because there are many people who don't know how to use reshade, so I made the mod and color profiles.
And for those who still have old computers, the mod does not impact the FPS as some reshade effects.
Either way you can use this mod with reshade and use the PPFX SSDO effect.

There is always a place for each mod =) I am the first to say this because I have been very unwelcomed by the community on the Bohemia forums by people, including moderators, who have insulted my work simply because it didn't suit them, so really, I wouldn't say that your mod is useless, far from it. I never understand why they are doing this and nobody never do anything against that when moderators punished me when I just defend myself. It's like they can attack people but people don't have the right to defend themselves. By living this, it's completely not cool at all so I will surely never do this haha !
It's true that ReShade requires a little thought in use even if it's not difficult especially with the settings possible directly in game with a simple interface but a lot of people could have a blockage about that and prefer a mod like this one.
On top of that, after watching the video, that looks good. Games often have a too faded effect, even by adjusting the contrast and brightness in the options. I don't know why developers do that. I often feel like I'm playing with a tracing paper in front of the screen. ReShade helps me a lot to remove this effect and I only use these filters: Curves, Lift Gamma Gain, LumaSharpen, Technicolor, Tonemap and Vibrance. On the other hand, like you, there are reports of performance drops with ReShade when I've never had this problem, always the same FPS with or without. Maybe because some people need to avoid to abuse by activating each effects or too many in the same time. In any case, no performance concerns on my side on any game with ReShade.
Really cool mod, I'm glad you made it. The winter-ish white horizon of the sky was really bothering me.
Note:
Doesn't work with SMD_Sahrani_A2. Had to edit configs to make it work for it.
I also noticed when the sky is very clear, there are 2 clouds in the sky. They really bothered me.
So I set the skybox from veryclear.paa to clear.paa, the clouds were gone and I'm now happy.

I'm glad you like it, the mod works with the original version of Sharani and the mod CAA1, but of course forget to try the SMD version, in the next update I will include it; The clouds !, you are right it was my mistake, I made a mistake when naming the files, and I changed very clear for clear, I will also correct it, I was testing different images and in the end I made a mistake about the image.
