who needs galil
what u mean?
galil is a great gun.
Well not really by modern standards and the Galil MAR which I guess is what is in the first picture was rejected by the IDF because the handguard over heated very rapidly like rapid single shot less than one 35 round magazine rapid. Though some Isreali officers did by them for personal use.It had some interesting features but in the end it is basicly nothing more what youd get if an AK-47 and an M-16 had a baby.It is also a bit heavy compaired to its peers.
Also even by the mid 1980s the IDF was mainly using M-16s and CAR-15s much of the time. The models look good though you should really do some Tavors or the Negev.
I had a Galil from 1995 to 1998 while serving as a tank commander in the IDF. It is a bit heavy and not so accurate, but never jams. In 2001 I had to use an M-16A2E3 in the Gaza strip, and I got jammed in a combat situation- not a fun thing. The Galil is a fine weapon.
I currently own one myself and it works great. In fact it has been given a new breath in south america. For a short time it was popular with Israeli special operations and was mounted with an M203.
