Having nice caves is certainly a good idea for various missions, I can also think of Taliban hideouts etc.
The problem seems so far being the lighting, the cave is not dark at all but appears like surface terrain. Having a dark cave would also require a torch or a lamp addon as well. I'm quite confident that the ARMA2 engine will allow for a cool creepy atmosphere in the cave then (if good normal and specular maps are applied).
the idea style is indeed oblivion... there are some more things we are checking..(lighting issues) but as a proof of concept... nice cave systems are no problem in arma2.
as per a question on youtube comments:
they are sections placed in visitor which allows for a complex 3d cave system.
for all who don't know.

I do totaly agree with you on this the way arma has and probublly will always be is USA vs Russia with some noobs in the middle. They will always overpower the US team (Not a obersvation but a fact)and thats about it they will obviouslly not try something "different" BUT they dont need to as we can.
And i must say "some variation is fine" let me just re word this just for you "WE NEED A LOT OF DAMN VARIATION" XD
eh dont get me wrong..!big respect for the work u guys do!just was a bit curious,anyway for a rpg idea pretty cool.also i can imagine thats flashing if ur on ganja lol

I hope opteryx is working on making avgani arma2ified that way it runs without errors and looks better.
