I'd recommend getting a better psu, my old system is identical to yours though it has an intel cpu and 4gb of DDR2, I had the Sapphire 4650HD with a 405w PSU and I could run the game on normal-to-high settings with decent framerates.... bout 25fps if I remember correctly... that only ever went down if I was using fraps.

Ofcourse if you feel that gpu is bad then I would upgrade to the 4850/70... make sure you get a psu that can handle the minimum power your gpu can take though.....

According to this site

http://www.gpureview.com/radeon-hd-4650-agp-card-611.html

My current card takes about 48W, the card i want which is 6670 (Hope it's okay) takes about 66w

according to this

http://www.gpureview.com/radeon-hd-6670-gddr5-card-654.html

Is this compatible with my Motherboard i posted recently?

Pegatron M2N78-LA (Violet6)

and If it is compatible, should i perhaps get a 100w more PSU? :) Thanks for the help guys, I don't know where else to turn :>

will this help.
Ok so i have a Compaq - Presario Desktop heres a link to it. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Compaq+-+Presario+Desktop+/+AMD+E-Series+Processor+/+3GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive/2670346.p?id=1218343209613&skuId=2670346 But any way i upraded the vido card to a Gerforce 8400gs and my power supplie to a 400wat. now when i play i play with an interface resolution of 800x600x32 with 3D resolution of 75% and i get 20fps but when i look at trees and stuff i get like 12fps. So i was wondering if i upgraded my cpu to a AMD Black Edition - AMD Phenom II X4 3.2 GHz Processor will it improve my fps or make it more stable or just do nothing. Also what would be better uprading the vido card or the cpu wtich one will give me better fps?? Thank you.

WOW man that is really crap, even worse than my laptop. I didnt know much about computers not to long ago but I havnt stoped doing research and now Im no expert, but I know quite a bit about it. yes your processor plays a big part in all this but your video card is crucial. how much do you have to spend?

Upgrading your current CPU would more than likely mean replacing your existing motherboard as well because there are not alot of upgrade options available for LGA 1156 boards.

Your memory amount should be just fine for ArmA* -assuming that you are running a 64-bit OS- however the speed of the RAM (which you did not post) currently installed would be of more help in determining possible alteratives.

Both cards of the 5700 series (HD 5750, HD 5770) are listed having 128 bus widths and for the type of settings, resolution & frame rates you are shooting for you should be looking for a replacement GPU with at least twice that.
____
If at all possible you may want to hold off on any (CPU/MB) purchases until the beginning of the new year and/or the rollout of the new LGA 2011 (R) and LGA 1155 (Sandy Bridge E) equipment, because the prices of currently available products are sure to fall.

I'm thinking of getting either the GTX 580 or the gtx 590 not sure which to get? I'm building a hole new comp from scratch. I'm thinking of just getting the 580 for now and when the 600 series come out just get that instead of getting the 590? I'm only going to run a single monitor and the 590 is made for multi display I know but how would it run for single? I want maximum graphics out of it, I will be running 12gb ram, 6core 3.3 ghz, CPU i7 980 and an 280gb ssd drive for just games. Any advice ppl? Thanks

For arma you need a stronger CPU I believe, or a very good cooler, because you need to clock it, make sure it doesn't strangle the gfx card, my mate had to clock his 2600k to 4.7ghz to play without lag on very high.

Really? So you don't think what I'm getting will be enough for max setting? I don't like to clock it because it will most likely shorten the life of the system?
