Full scale, 102kmx102km, 6.25m ground resolution.
Still a long way to go to make it playable by land units, but air battles are already possible.
Ossun-Pyrénées Airport mostly finished
Laloubere aeroclub autoland/takeoff working

Lot of terrain elevations to be tuned !


pre-alpha3 is online=
- Most forests of the half north part are here (lot of tuning to be done, draft only)
- Clutter is not matching with these new forests
- ArmA2 config file => no nice flowers in the generic grass clutter

Collaborating kit:

For enthusiasts of this project (those who live in the "65", those who know it well, those who already visited, the others, those who want to help even a little bit) =

The point is having Googlemaps on one side, ArmA Editor on the other, and copy (dont draw cross borderlines, like in the Kindergarten ;-D ) all you can:
Houses, roads, fuel stations (yes, it's important for driving such distances !), gardens, ... In short everything which can allow this map to be finished before my retirement (I'm 33 !)

* Just install MAPFACT's editor upgrade so you can add all ArmA2 buildings/objects/trees :

That's all !!


I keep the "not fun anymore work" : assembly your addings, create main road network, forets, and fine tuning elevations (just put objects at good location/orientation, even if there is slope in game that is'nt in real world , I'll manage it)

i m still learning to make maps n missions n mod n stuff so plz don't just kill the project GueB, i m gonna make more air mission with ur island, though it will some time, i hav a lot of ideas but all ambitious but rubbish idea cause i don't hav the skill to achieve them yet lucky there r lot of helps online,,,,, so keep ur island alive eh

Hello foxwuj ,

Back after some time thinking more of real life job than Arma2

I'm glad that you like the map, I did work very lightly since the pre-release.

I suggest all those who can learn/help to download the collaborating kit because the pdf tutorial only makes 3 pages in ENGLISH ( with lots of screenshots inside) !!!

Wow Darkhorse I'm impressed how fast you've been in intalling tools + goin'thru the tutorial !

Currently i'm working on the lakes and forests, also doin' some main roads ( mainly around ossun airport )

You can start anywhere you like, even re-create Mauvezin middle-age castle if you want ! *DANCE*

I was thinking of filling field area/villages around Ossun airport to allow simple infantry/air attack combinations missions first, but the more scenery the best anywhere anytime

If for example you decide to create Gavarnie village (and some roads/tracks around) for some trekking civilian rescue mission, go on, it's real landscape everything is possible .

man that MAPFACT is painful to work with,,, pick out thousands of obj just by looking at a number, its ok to use that just to make a mission,,, (i did play around with that b4 with ACE) but to make a map out of that is a totally different story....
well i guess i will give it a go with 3d editor or i should learn how to make map the conventional way....

and i tested the 2.7 version,, man those tree really stressing my PC, got to find a way to over come that b4 u populate the map with more n more house n stuff...
will get back to u later...

# [KH]Matt : Is there any chance of putting the link right on the 65fr-pre-alpha3.7z on Megaupload as it still downloads the 2.7 version and easyshare link wont work at all for me.

My bad, it's just the name of the upload wich is wrong, this is THE REAL pre-alpha3 package (with wrong revision name) !
pre-alpha2 is only 145MB, this one 183MB.
The stopping power of the cables is impressive on the video ! *THUMBS UP*

@foxwuj : Trees indeed involve lot of caching/HDD loading although I reduced tree types to minimum, for the moment I lower the "object detail" setting for flying. On the ground , I reduce view distance.
Still working on a solution to the "10km-view lag" for you all TopGun pilots ! ;D
More Clutter config use will do I guess.

Houses, roads ... involve MUCH LESS LAG than trees and clutter from my early tests, the number also is a killer : more than 2 million trees VS. several hundred/thousands objects...

Some people told me they use RTE editor but I don't have time to try it yet.
