HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ArmA2OAProfile
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ArmA2OAProfile_auto_file
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.ArmA2OAProfile
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ArmA2OAProfile_auto_file
____
I don't know if any 3rd-party apps hook onto the user-profile, but might be something to look into if ^ doesn't solve it.
Hopefully you've backed up prior to editing, just in case something goes south.

I had the same problem, noticed it too when I reinstalled Arma 2 on my new HD which I got for guarantee. No idea how to prevent it but really...........don't format just to fix this. I am sure there is a way around. But I cant help you with the answer.

are you talking about the RTEditor?, cos if so go to
C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\AddOns
and delete the ion_rtev.pbo and bi-signs(delete anything that is rte) i had the same problem a while ago

If you pluck the file association from FileExts, it should make it hard for the system to recognise the file.
You could also expand your search to include all references to BIS and Bohemia Interactive Studios, and remove all from the hive.

used the alt+e 3d editor the thing i don't understand is why it still needs the files when they are completely removed
so somewhere there must be some file that keeps all my data i been clearing all arma 2 from regedit
all arma 2 folders and files even the cache files and still there is a file that don't show up through searches
