Feeling a bit bored today i went looking at some old games and voilá, there was my 4 cd Purple Haze package, ahh great memories and great game, will it work? I just had to find out..

Its old official site went down (so did gathering) and the closest i could find was this german one and Pterodon's site:

http://www.vietcong-game.de/de/vietcong.html
http://www.pterodon.com/?id=30

Any old VC players around here?

We still play this game a lot at our community: http://www.6thsense.eu

There are servers, ranks and very nice ppl to play with and besides we play as a real team in coop with selecting a teamleader, following orders etc. :)

Other than that we set up specials from time to time in coop campaigns and also pvp. Some of the specials include team pvp where a teamleader and his men move in as a team (not ramboing) to make it more realistic and fun. ;)

Yeah I agree, Illusion makes the best games(imo). Just wish they supported them more with tools and stuff. You guys here about the game they 'were' making back in 2005.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/enemyinsight/index.html

Was actually waiting to get this game, but after no mention since when It was first announced I gave up and brought Armed assualt. My guess is that they are still working on it, even though it was suppose to be realesed a year or so ago(H&D2 took like 5 years and Mafia was something like that also).
Hopefully they are working on that, vietcong 3, H&D3 or mafia 2 either way, hope they release some new, news soon:)

I saw the 6thsense server running last night with 4 guys cooping but it was kinda late.

VC was very well supported in terms of patches and even a level editor, i'll have to check out some user made coops, they also made their own anticheat prog but its outdated now..

Anyways VC is one of my favorite games of all time and dispite its age i still recomend it to everyone who games outside the box :yes.

Vietcong 2 was a flop, there were real online issues with the anti cheat and cd key errors that took them a month to long to fix and what community there was hiped up about it had already gone back to VC.

Yes I agree VC is still a great game.

Some of the problems were the publishers fault (2gay games).

I think VC2 had great potential but they needed alot more time and money to work on it. Illusion was(/is?) in financial trouble, Gathering went dont and shortly after release the devs closed shop :(.

So we lost a real dedicated and talented bunch while seeing millions invested in ordinary, mainstream crap. You gotta love the games biz...

Hidden & Dangerous 2 was also a very good game for Coop missions, though it was bugged with many exploits & wasn't very well supported in the fact that no editing tools shipped with it.
