Well to start off my name is Ben, im 17 and im from the UK. Been looking to play the Arma games for years but never had a decent enough computer that could run it smoothly... For christmas and with a little saving up i bought the parts to my gaming rig which i hope to build some time next week, i as plan to buy/install this game! i just dont know which version is worth getting.

I dont really buy games for the single player so which ever game has the best community i would prefer to join. I have always enjoyed a good FPS so im really looking forward to playing which a few of you guys, thats if you accept beginners.

Well thats my Rant over. Just to sum it up which version should i get?

~Ben

Welcome to Armaholic and happy new year :-)

Latest OA version is 1.57:

Advertising section to find MP games and groups:
http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=topics&s=41

That should give you a good start to find some decent MP games.

Fixed a most stupid typo, must be drunk already :-)

By version you mean?? Armed Assault, ArmA II or ArmA II Operation Arrowhead?

If its that then go for the two latter ones above so you can have combined operations.

As for hoping to be accepted, just come on in mate, we accept everyone *JOKINGLY*

I hope your stay with us is a long and enjoyable one; and if no-one has said yet, Welcome to Armaholic Benn *HI*

May i point you to our introduce yourself thread.

Replying to: Where to Begin?
Combined Operations would be a good place to start, and with both the BAF & PMC DLC added in, you will find plenty of servers to choose from.
____EDIT:
Hint. Whatever version you decide on, make sure it is either retail disc or SprocketIdea DD...and avoid Steam like the plague.

Where can i start, steam are always late on patching up there games (missing out on a few days of playing online), its much harder to run mods, if you bought a standalone OA on steam anmd A2 on disc, its hard to combnine them to make combined ops.

As a rule i would stay well away from steam in regards to BIS games!!! just hit search on our site and type steam problems, you'll see then, or better yet, do the same search on the bi forums :-D

Though i am, well against a digital copy of bis games. they are having a massive sale on all their products inc. dlc via Sprocket Idea; an email i recieved some days ago shows this:

http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/mass_mail/NL_NewYearsSale2.html

If this is something that interests you,. its basically having the game without the disc, no ties to the atrocious steam.

Sale ends Midnight CET January 2nd 2011
