Limited Assets - Isla Duala - ACE2/ACRE
by
Stick_Hogue

Description:
This is a non-linear, multimission Isla Duala campaign map. Assets do not respawn, players have limited respawns, and friendly fire is penalized. The briefing contains all relevant information regarding official objectives, including marker references and some images where needed. There are two major unofficial objectives you'll enjoy discovering. Read that briefing!

For those interested but not using ACE2/ACRE, try the A2OA version:
http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11243

Installation:
Extract the .pbo file(s)to your ArmA2\MPMissions folder.

Notes:
Because this map is about players being Special Ops team leaders and members more than buck privates, and because it's a theater scale map involving primarily action behind enemy lines, all player slots are considered to be trained as field medics and can perform medic functions if they so desire. Also, the AI piloted/player directed Evac helo carries ambulance supplies and is tagged as a heal vehicle.

Changelog:
v2.63
  • Several more fixes mostly related to the ACE transition

  • v2.62
  • Reworked soldier units for many more player slots (now 34), including specific pilot slots.
  • Changed who is a medic - now the team leaders (at game start) are trained medics in addition to medic units (initial ACE implementation had all player slots as trained medics).

  • v2.56
  • replaced some erroneous ace_fnc_packweapon commands with ace_fnc_packmagazine on the Engineers

I've edited this ACE version to have many more player slots (34, was 13), with dedicated pilot slots. Non-medic Team Leader slots (except the Engineer team leader) are trained medics, but exercising that ability is voluntary, of course. I did that because the nature of this map is to get multiple squads coordinating their activities toward achievement of the multiple theater scale tasks, although since group restructuring is supported you can set up your team(s) any way you like - one big player team, two squads, multiple fire teams working together as a platoon on single objectives, with or without AI subs as you desire - whatever you're in the mood to try.
    enjoy,

    Note from the author:
The latest version of LAID_OA_ACE/ACRE splits the map into two parts for framerate purposes. The missions that are on Afrenian territory are in the PUSHBACK version, and the missions that are on Molatian territory are in the SMACKDOWN version. The overhead from Isla Duala 1.95 plus all the latest ACE and ACRE updates just got way too heavy on top of my already very heavy campaign map. You'll find the PUSHBACK and SMACKDOWN versions run much faster and more smoothly in terms of frame rate, and that means AIs are sharper and the whole experience is that much better.
