I have been trying to get into Arma2 CO for the last week and while I have had plenty of enjoyment from the Dynamic zombie Sandbox other missions I haven't had so much fun with. I am not sure if it is a mod I have installed or just a restriction but there are no spot indicators on friendlies and enemies. I have been trying to play Warefare benny edition but it is frustrating when the AI tells me that a hostile is to our right and I shoot a friendly because he was the only person I saw to the far right.

This isn't battlefield, there are no spot indicators, try checking the map, if you play on any difficulty below veteran they will show up as red circles with directional pointers. Also try familiarizing yourself with how the different sides look. i.e. what gear they wear, what weapons they are using.

In singleplayer you can adjust the difficulty settings so enemies do show on map and I think you also get a triangle marked over an enemy when spotted by the AI or revealed by yourself.
In MP you will depend on the difficulty settings set by the server and I think most servers will have this disabled.

Not from what I can remember, spotting was simply done with the eye, with no visual graphic aids, it's a milsim after all, not a shooter. :-)

No there isn't, modders tend to stay away from dumbing the game down.

lol

The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men then himself.

Are you sure?
I think you are wrong with this. I remember seeing videos where a red circle (I think its a circle) shows on the enemy unit which your team leader wants you to engage. Not like every unit is marked with a triangle/circle of course :-)

And you can still show enemy units on the map, but they must have been spotted before they will show on map anyway. And they will be gone from the map when you no longer have visible contact with them.

I think you may be right actually, but it isn't a spot indicator, on every enemy/friendly they have a transparent orb in the center of they're bodies when close and slightly above the head when far, red for enemy, white for friendly. I just forgot about that since I only play in expert mode. :-P

This is true.

Never got around to finding the code though
