Hey everyone!

I am very new to ARMA 2 editiing and I have been searching for a while now for information on getting a C-130 to drop a squad (or 3) over an objective and also how I can get two harriers to drop bombs at a waypoint.

The reason I have opened a new thread on this is that all of the answers to other threads asking similiar things have revolved around just installing a mod to do everything and make it easy. I would like to know if it is possible to do both things without needing to install a mod. Surely the basic version of the game should allow me to do these things?!?!

Paratroopers-I found a script for loading the squads into the herc and I have done this without a problem. I cannot get them to jump out over a waypoint though. I have tried using "get out" at the waypoint or "unload cargo" but to no avail....

Harrier bomb run-at the start of my mission, I want two harriers to fly over a small town and drop a payload. I have placed a "destroy" waypoint on two vehicles but they do not attack. I have also tried "seek and destroy" but again, they do not attack. I have seen various similiar questions raised elsewhere but the answer each time has been "download a mod". Could anyone tell me how to do it without using a mod please?

Cheers for any help =D

This is an editing question, will be moved to a editing forum.

Next up the answer, and again in form of videos.

Basically the best way to do it is to "cheat", you do the airstrike yourself and that being explained in this video.

You're only after ejecting and paradropping from a moving C130, the best way to do this would be to name your group, the group that should paradrop. After that is done you make a trigger and group it with the plane, should be 250x250 in diameter, this then will activate the trigger when the plane is in the trigger.

OnAct you put down a script null = [nameofyourgroup] execVM "eject.sqf";

The script should be named Eject.sqf and it should look something like

_group = _this select 0;
{_X action ["Eject",nameofc130]; unAssignVehicle _X; sleep 0.1}foreach units _group

I'm gonna test this myself, otherwise search for eject script on armaholic here.

Thank you very much, I will try it tomorrow. Are there any resources you recommend for learning how to edit properly? A lot of the information I see I can use (thanks to videos such as yours) but I don't actually understand what is going on or each scripts purpose. I'd love to understand the composition of a script and learn how to create my own

Well all my videos are there for new guys, but Mr.Murrays editing bible is probably the best bet.

But if you don't want to read 400 pages of info about editing, then watch the videos and check the Editing Newbie FAQ!
