PMC Versus coop mission pack

by
Fuiba

Description:
This mission pack contains missions of the Belarussian private military company Versus operations on Chernarus. The missions are playable in singleplayer and multiplayer coop with the maximum of five players. The missions require Advanced Combat Environment addons and I strongly recommend playing them on veteran difficulty. Some of the missions use small amounts of BAF and PMC content which is why it's recommended that you have these DLCs. Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Also check out PMC Versus' week in Finland.

Mission content:

Installation:
Extract the .pbo file(s) to your ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead\MPMissions folder for multiplayer/coop or to ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead\Missions folder for singleplayer.

Notes:
The private military company Versus has been assigned to perform various surgical military operations in NATO occupied Chernarus. Most of the missions are guerilla warfare in which Versus operators assist the ChDKZ's asymmetric warfare against the occupying NATO forces as well as the CDF and NAPA. There is bit of a story linking the missions together and the chronological order can be seen in the Mission content -paragraph. Non honori sed pecuniae!

Changelog:

Credits & Thanks:
Thanks to Mr. Murray for the Arma Editing Guide, Armaholic community for support and Sander's missions packs for great inspiration and awesome missions! Also, thanks to the ACE team for making Arma what it should have been from the beginning. Special thanks to Comrades in Arms and Variable for testing the missions and for invaluable feedback!

Hey Fuiba, I gave each of your missions a quick try to test them and about half of them do not load (just go back to the mission selection screen). Note that I tested 2.0 version of your pack. Please see our mission list for all the details (click the ACE Missions tab at the bottom). In addition to the missions that do not load, the mission "Lucifer" doesn't show notes or tasks.
The missions were tested on the Comrades in Arms ACE coop Windows dedicated server.
Apart from that, the missions that do work seem very appealing! We are looking forward to playing them. It seems they are structured as a campaign, do they have any particular order? I would rather play them in the right order, if there is one!
Thank you very much for this pack, much appreciated!

Hi Variable,

that sounds strange since all of the missions have worked when I tried them with a couple of friends. We haven't been using a dedicated server though. I'll look into that but I'm quite sure it has something to do with the addons. I'll get back to you soon!

EDIT:
I just found out that while I was using the JSRS sound for while making the missions the mission editor decided that those missions can't be played unless JSRS is enabled. I removed the requirement for JSRS for all of the missions in version 2.11 - the link is in the first post. I never actually imagined that a sound mod would somehow become a requirement but lesson learned. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, you guys shouldn't be the ones to test these. This was a little amateurish but I guess that's what I am :)

As for the mission order, it is found in the first post. I guess I could make it easier to follow the story although it's not anything coherent. I'll be working on that next.

Thanks for the update Fuiba! I uploaded version 2.11 and all the missions that did not load before that I managed to test tonight work perfectly [direct link to the ACE mission tab].
One small problem I encountered in "aversus" - a radio message saying the Armor was destroyed is appearing right at the beginning of the mission. I played some more into it and was attacked by a Hind and infantry. Not sure whether the Armor should have came already, but maybe that message appearing at the beginning of the mission indicates on another problem.

Don't worry about the addons bug... It's really worth while for us to receive high quality missions just at the cost of encountering a bug here and there. Thanks a lot again!

Hi again Variable! I'm been trying to locate the problem you've encountered with Op. Aversus but no luck so far. I've added a secondary trigger to ensure that the tanks are really destroyed, I hope that helps! By the way thanks for your feedback, the problem with these missions is that they haven't gone through much testing and I would appreciate suggestions once you guys have played them (too difficult, too easy, no sense at all et cetera) :) And expect an update soon with new missions!

Fuiba, we have played and completed the first episode! Good fun, we really liked the mission. I think it's well balanced and entertaining and it made us look forward to play the rest of the campaign.
About Aversus, do you plan to updated the pack with the change you put into it?

Operation Aversus is updated in version 2.40 - I hope it works now since I wasn't able to replicate the problem you encountered :)

thanks for the update Fuiba! Glad to see three new missions were added :)
Can you please indicate the names (and maybe even descriptions) of the missions that were added? It will make the updating process easier...

Yeah, sure. Here's what's new in 2.40:

Operation Iconoclastae (co05)
Eliminate two high value targets fortified at the Devil's Castle. You have an AH-6 Littlebird with DAGR and FLIR camera at your disposal. Night mission.

Operation De Immortalibus (co05)
Infiltrate an airfield and destroy fighter planes during a diversion assault. Night mission.

Operation Trivium (co05)
Ambush a convoy of soft-skinned vehicles in the Three Valleys and clear an access control point to enable extraction.

Fuiba, we completed the second episode of the campaign, Operation Soter Avidus. This is an excellent mission! It was fun to plan the ambush, carry it out against the enemies that attacked, and utilize all the cool equipment that was available. I especially liked the IED, which I never used before, and especially the tripwire option that it includes.
The idea of a PMC fighting NATO is a great concept!
When we reached the guy we were suppose to secure, nothing happened. He just kept on standing there. We approached him before and after the attack. However, we continued to the extraction without him and it worked fine, the mission was completed successfully.

Thanks for these great missions!
Variable, on behald of S3tup, Nouty and L-Cube who played the mission.

I'm glad you guys liked it. The guy you're supposed to secure is supposed to join your group. I just tested the mission the other day and it worked fine, so I'm not sure what's causing the bug. Good thing you were still able to complete the mission. I'm guessing these things are just something one will have to live with when dealing with Arma :)

EDIT:
I'm sorry Arma, I was wrong!

Yeah, I guess...
When you tested it, was it on a dedicated server?
if you need a dedi to test on, I can assist you with that.

Well sure, much appreciated! I actually tested it as single player but I suppose there's not much I can do since the scripting commands are the same in MP and SP. But I'm sure we could give it a shot!

EDIT:
I think I just found the problem! The "(join group player)" does not work in multiplayer. It actually makes sense since the "players" can be different groups in MP. Fixed that in Op. Soter Avidus and two other missions. Expect an update soon!

EDIT2:
New missions in 2.70:

25. Operation Frangentur (co05)
Shoot down UAVs during an USMC training exercise. You have an Ural truck with ZU-23-2 at your disposal.

26. Operation Hic Sunt Dracones (co05)
Destroy coastal defences at skerry Drakon. Night mission.

27. Operation Sinister Et Dexter (co05)
Defend an exposed forward observation base at Altar hill. Night mission.

I've added mission overviews for all the missions in the first post.
