Hi all!!! I'm a newcomer to the modding community and I wanted to have a go at retexturing !

Here's the situation:
I want to apply a simple retexture to the basic BLUFOR(NATO) uniform and replace the American flag with a Greek(or anyother) one . So I decided to take the initial uniform and have a go! Here's what I did :

1. Took the Arma3/Addons/characters_f.pbo and extracted it with Eliteness
2. After extraction i found the basic uniform: a3/characters_f/BLUFOR/Data/equip1_co.paa and the equip1_nohq.paa
3. Created two .png files out of those two so that I can edit them with GIMP ( opened with TexVewer2 -> saved as .png)
4. I followed the retexturing tutorials of DHAeneas2020 ( grayscaling ) and Slatts Modding (retexturing) on youtube and created a beautiful new equip1_co.png and then turned it into a .paa again .
5. I replaced the old equip1_co.paa found in step 2, with the new one i created.
6. Packed everything in a new characters_f.pbo with eliteness ( tools->MakePbo) without any problem and replaced the old characters_f.pbo from step 1 ( i saved the old .pbo somewhere safe ;-) )

And it simply didn't do the trick. I tried placing a BLUFOR unit in the editor and the American flags where there.

Bear in mind that my first attempt was retexturing Slatt's port of the FNFAL to arma3 which suceeded and followed pretty much the same method.

I'm really sorry for this gigantic post but I want to save you the headache and the time of asking me questions trying to figure out what I did. I really look forward to your support !!!!

Hmmm.... Here's an interesting update : i realised that i could not load textures for the blufor whereas for the opfor and independent i can !!!

I'm stubborn enough to keep this thread alive even though no one seems to be interested

Ok so I'm actually having progress on this project ... I took over the independent uniforms ( as for BLUFOR ones I cannot load the texture via
this setObjectTexture [0, "texture.paa"]
any leads on this ??? )
But when i change the flag/tag on the region which should be shown in the right shoulder/arm , whatever flag/tag/object I put there, it will be shown mirrored on the other hand as well . I don't want that, i want to be able to have different tags on different arms .
