Would it be hard to make a mod where multiple servers could be joined together to make a campaign and/or giant map?

We could also have some kind of procedurally generated content?

Nigh on impossible without serious BIS support of it, since it would require a total rewrite of the netcode (more drastic than the DayZ standalone).

Thats a shame. Maybe one day when I have some more money I will pay somebody if they can do it. I think its the one major flaw the Arma series has. It would put the battles in to more context. I love the game but the fights feel too isolated after awhile.

You could do this...at least something like it, by sharing INIDB files to a MySQL Database and having all the servers pull data back in from the MySQL database. I am doing something similar, I have a post about it in another thread.

You wouldn't see units in your game, but if each unit had a defined area of operations you could fake it, and still pull up the map and see what was going on. It would even be possible for artillery from server A to fire and drop on enemy positions on server B in their operational area if you wanted it to happen.

I'm going to say @A.L.I.V.E. to you, a game changer of a mod.

Its not a direct solution to what your asking but it makes large scale campaigns possible. + persistence.
