I have been getting into Map Creation recently, and I have been having lots of trouble. If anyone could share tutorials or tools, that would be great.

The kind of tool I would prefer (for making terrain) is a 3d sort of tool with brushes, like Unity or Unreal Engine's terrain systems. I have already gotten Terragen and Wilbur but I can't really figure out how to make good terrains with them...

Hey,

For the D Terrain Editing, Iuse this:
http://www.bundysoft.com/L3DT/downloads/

ITs L3DT, an 3D Terrain former.

It got also an 3D View window, where you can Edit with brushes directly.

Have fun with it...

Well first off you should of searched I had did just that and found all this lot:

Basic Map Making Tutorial
ARMA2OA Map step by step Guide using Arma2p tool
ZGM Map making tutorial
Terrain Starter Kit

All from the Armaholic FAQ found here.

Yes I know they are for ArmA 2 and OA but these are still being used to make makes for ArmA 3 too as there is
not much difference, the new tools will just add more functionality to what we already have etc.

I too as a map maker used L3DT which is an awesome piece of software and the best to go by in my opinion.

1st - Check The Rules! 2nd - Use The Search!

Hi
Here are two good tutorials for beginners of A3 terrain .

the second is a little rushed probably done for quickness rather than quality but it will help out for sure.

Making a terrain in 3rd party software
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT0eizCJBq0
Getting terrain from Terrain builder to to Arma 3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibe3kDD3Ep4

I made quite a lot of progress and changed my own terrain with TB tools and hopefully when BIS make a clean release that allows V3 pew and wrp layers to be seen without loading again sat and mask i will go back to the new tools for complete process , for now it has fantastic advantages for placement of objects and road shapes , but i prefer to do final build in the V3 arena :)

Thanks for the information! :)

Following the first tutorial, when I try to import my heightmap into L3DT standard v 11.11 it will not import because the map size is too big for the standard edition, and I use the same size he uses! Is there any way I can fix this or a new program I can use?
