Hello! So I have been getting to the point where I need to store strings and such in a file, using the SQF functions to store or read the strings to load and save data.

How would I do this? All I really need is just to save and read strings from any ordinary file.

Yeah I saw that, just a bit confusing on the functions. Would it be possible to use that for other file types besides ini too?

I am not too sure. If it is persistent data storage you are looking for then this is a nice little option. Havent actually got it yet but if you scroll through the comments on the page the guy explains its usage.
Depends what the strings are that you want to store?
(and no I think its only .ini files that you use in the actual addon itself)

Okay, well thats fine I guess. Also, I did read the comments and understand it a lot better now, I will be using that!

Also, in altis life Tonic was able to read data from an XML file, how would I do that in SQF?

Fairly sure SQF files cannot be written to. You best shot is with that link I'm afraid, but if you understand it better now then that's pretty good :-)

Yeah, its a start :D But I believe I phrased that wrong, I do not want to write to an SQF file, that wouldn't make too much sense, I want to read from an XML file using SQF, how would I do that?

Essentially you are talking about a stringtable right? I haven't used them before but I do have a mission pbo that has one. I will try to get back to you when I have looked at it in detail

Well this is as much usefullness as I can be I'm afraid! :-(

I had thought stringtables were used for other stuff as well as languages but it seems I might have been wrong.. Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you.
