Nope, Arma 2 will be a new game, not a patch so yes you will have to buy a whole new game.
Arma 2 is so much different to Arma there is no way of just updating things.

Not to hijack the topic or anything, i just thought this would be a could place to ask it. Will any of the downloadable content that we have, ie. Addons and Mods. be able to be transfered to ArmA 2? It would be wonderful if that could happen.

If u have read some info u would have seen that yes. With some "small" changes of course, not direct port i guess.

Maruk has stated Arma material should be able to be used in Arma 2 without problems. Same goes for scripts, he posted some guidelines for them, if developpers stick to that also scripts would be usable in Arma 2.
But as always, we will see when the game arrives on our desks :)

I am not saying anything, I am only repeating what Maruk said.
I also am not saying its only a matter of dropping Arma addons in your Arma 2 install. Some changes might be needed but thats something only the future can tell ;)

At least it wont be as difficult as porting OFP addons to Arma.
