As the name says this script will generate a snow storm in your mission.
Tested on dedicated, JIP compatible.



You can use, adapt and/or modify the script as you see fit.
If you find nice ways to modify the script for better effects let me know.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks mate! I heard that pops up on certains terrains, i couldn't reproduce it but i will have a look and tweak the script to prevent that. A new version will be released this week hopefully.

I made a small fix to prevent script error on non-vanilla terrains. Until we update the script on Armaholic please use the STEAM version. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Alias,

Thank you for this beautiful Snow Script and of course for your super Tanoa in Black Missions

Question.
How can i keep the snowfall in my Mission but disable the heavy storms.
The Blizzardstorm drops my fps extremely down.

Another Question, Is it possible to restart the Script when the life time is over from the first call in the init.sqf?

Hey Simmax,
for the first question, try this in al_snow.sqf
- comment lines between 115 and 161

Tho the impact of the script on FPS is minimum, did you test the script without mods or other scripts running in the background?

for the second question
- you need to write another script to launch the snow script at random intervals in a loop, something like

while {true} do {
my_storm_duration = 240 + random 600;
pause_between_snowfall = 120+ random 300;
null = [80,my_storm_duration,false,40] execvm "AL_snowstorm\al_snow.sqf";
sleep (my_interval + pause_between_snowfall);
};

Adjust the values to fit your needs and let me know if works, i am not on my comp to test it. Have fun! :)

Hello! Love the script but having a problem. After about 15minutes of play the snow and the script stop working like its not even running anymore.

Hello Aliascartoon, first, let me tell you that your scripts are really cool !
Since the last version of your snow storm script, we experience a real slideshow over 30 players (PvP, no AI) and we have to disable the script. I also tried without storm (storm duration = 0) just to enjoy the cold effects but it made the same issue.

I'm using the module version (which is up to date AFAIK).

How do you run the script, where you launch it? Shouldn't be much difference if there are 5 players or 50, but who knows... Could be the way the script runs or the ping/desync for players. What type of mission do you run? Persistent or not? Do you run other scripts or mods on server side?
With storm duration of 0 you shouldn't have any storm at all, you meant the pause between wind burst? In any case that value must much bigger than 0 if you want better performance.

Snow Script Update v1.02

Changelog
Made the breath vapors optional via script parameters to diminish the impact on frames in missions with many units.
Added a fifth parameter in script which if is false the breath vapors won't be used.
Example:
null = [80,1800,false,300,false] execvm "AL_snowstorm\al_snow.sqf";
