One of the early missions has a UAV trailer and the UAV flying overhead. I can go to the trailer and view the UAV's camera.
However;
1) Is it possible to control the UAV?
2) In a mission I'm told I have artillery, tramsport and UAV support - however when I go to the comms menu I only have the Transport and Artillery options available. Why don't I have UAV as an option?

Search the BI forums for the specific ArmA2 mission name to see if anyone else hasposted about this. I don't have the game so I can not be of any help.

Hello

At Mission start the UAV flies circles over own Base. You have to walk to the UAV Terminal and use the UAV Option.
Then you can controll the Alttitude with the normal keys,you use in Chopper too.If you want the UAV to fly to a special
Position,you need to open the Map (when looking trough UAV),there you can order the UAV to fly somewhere else,But take care,
enemy Air Defense can shoot it down when flying too low altitude.Better fly high altitudes and zoom in (+- keys)

I see - I didn't realise that, thanks.
I noticed that you can't really see anything of use on the UAV's monitor, it all zooms by too quickly. Will the UAV add contacts to my map?

No but you can Press the "B" Button,then a Mark will apear on the Map,that keeps there for Mission.So when you see something that looks interesting press the B button,then you can visit it later.
The American UAV is a huge plane,not compareable with the UAVs they use in other Countries,for example,in the German Army we use a little "Model-Scale-Plane like thing,called "Drohne",they russians have such a little Version too (in Game too)

Hint: Save before you use the UAV,when you fly over enemy Air Defense it will shot down the UAV,and you only have 1.

The Default Altitude of UAV is 400 Meters,thats much too low,the original Predator can fly 6000 Meters Altitude.I think you must fly High Altitude too,otherwise the UAV will get shot down Quickyly over an enemys Position

Following this thread but I still can't find which key activates the UAV. I have been through the manual a dozen times and can see nothing.

Can someone direct a poor soul to the button for control of the UAV?

Me too, I'm still confused by the UAV. I can no longer find the UAV trailer in the main bases.
Question; if the enemy has UAV's also, if you hide in trees or whatever will you be hidden from it? Can you hide?

Anyway, surely with UAV support you could call it in over the radio for an overhead pass with positions reported to you?

Do you mean in self made Missions or in the Campaign??

You need to walk close to the UAV-Terminal,then an option "UAV" should be in your action menu.
As far as i know you cant call the UAV for an overflight over your position.But it would be possible with a self written script to do this.There is a russian UAV (like Model Plane,not compareable to Predator),but i cant remember a mission where the AI uses the UAV.

CONTROLS:

tab = To lock on targets and scroll through targets
- = Zoom out
+ = Zoom in

M = Open map

TIP: Open map, you have 4 waypoints, Click on the map untill you have

long straight line to the objective, this makes it easier spot enemies and

shot/lock on targets. Increase set height around mountains.

Scroll/roll middle mouse button for brightness. Scroll/roll up to dull the

brightness.

LEFT MOUSE: Fire rockets, bombs
RIGHT MOUSE: Exit UAV
