Is there a way to add individuals to a group as you progress?

I want to guide my team and go recue another guy and thus have him under my control. I assume the reverse is also possible.

Apologies if I have already posted this topic, didn`t seem to post the first time.

Thx

If you want more units to join your group you should use the "join" and "joinsilent" commands

Okay, I must be going mad as I had this working when I first tried it.

have had a break from ARMA (it was driving me round the bend) and I thought`s I`d come back and build what i had planned. can`t get this joining the group business to work now......

Have created a small group of 5 with player as leader (named group1)
have created the intended joinee and called him add1.

Have created a trigger that basically is set so that when Blue enters the area On Acc reads

[add1] join [[group1]]

I swear this worked the first time I tried but now i`m getting an error message about an array.

What have I missed?

Thx

remove the [] in your group
So it should look like this:
[add1] join group1

Sorry, made a mistake

Yup that works again...thanks )

Also means that when I had it working last time I either subconsciously knew not to add the extra brackets or miss-typed it. I`m thinking option 2 here ).

6thStorm : Hmm.. what if you want to make someone in your group leave it?

[add1] join grpNull

grpNull
"A non-existing group. This value is not equal to anything, including itself."

This means if you tell a unit to join a non existing group (grpNull) he will leave his own group and than join nothing ;)

Im having a problem using this. When a unit leaves my group (i.e. joins grpNull), he stands there and does nothing, instead of following his remaining waypoints. What im trying to do is have 3 units join together, then, once theyve reached a certain place, for them to split up again.

As your unit leaves, he joins a new "group", and hence need new waypoints.

Hi,
I'm relatively new to ArmA 2 (I have Combined Operations), and to the website. Right now, I'm working on a mission where my player (I am playing as) is being held hostage. I wait for my teammate (another player, my actual friend is playing) to take out my captors and rescue me. So far, I have this setcaptive true; removeAllWeapons this; in MY player's Init field. The enemy doesn't shoot me while they guard me, and I'm totally unarmed. I want to set it up so when my teammate gets close, he and I are on a team, and I'm not longer captive. I have no idea how to do this, at all. Do I use a trigger? If so, how do I set it up and link it to my player or his player?
Thanks,
Ryu

OK, your friend needs the "join and lead" way point on you, when he is 50m away you join his group, hope it works

Hi :)

I have a problem and have looked everywhere and tried numerous things, but can not resolve, please can anyone help?

I have a Mechanized Infantry squad that sets out in a BMP to a waypoint where the Infantry 'Get Out' and go on a foot patrol; unfortunately the crew of the BMP also join them! Obviously I wish for the crew to remain in their vehicle; how do I resolve this?

Also, once the Infantry squad has completed their patrol, they re-embark into the BMP and return to base; all this works, except for the crews deciding to join the foot-sloggers!

Thanks in advance for any help :)

The mechanized squad is in an unique group. You have to split crew and patrol in 2 different groups, with their own waypoints, you have to sync: get In with load, get out with transport unload.
