st3rv : I just wondered to be honest. After I spotted that text at the bottom of your website I figured it would be a question worth asking, however with the release of the WIP video you pretty much quashed any of my concerns about that HUD. Thanks for the video post, that is by far the best looking vehicle I have ever seen in any computer game. Looking forward to release :)

Well many years of working in this community has taught us that showing WIP shots usually gets us abuse. Things like "that looks shit" and "it looks unfinished"

We stick a little disclaimer on the end and it tends to keep the muppets quiet. And of course artwork changes, textures improve and the RVMATS are oftent he last thing we do so the final "look" is often quite different.

Sounds like a fair remedy to a problem that is caused by ungratefuls. I wont be expecting anyone that does discredit the typhoon you're working on to receive a warm welcome on this thread though. How did you get the job working on the eurofighter anyway?

I hope you step on a piece of Lego you bastard.

Oh there have already been a few snide comments. Mr Conspiracy has started his usual round of rumours apparently.

st3rv :How did you get the job working on the eurofighter anyway?
I had finished a robotics contract with BNFL and my agent asked me if I wanted to go back to aerospace stuff. It just turned out that it was working as a project manager in the Subcontracts team at EuroFighter. I had an interview and by the time I got home my agent rang me and said I'd got the job.

As Sergei the meerkat says: "Simples".

I use a HOTAS Cougar with CH pro pedals. I've had it 8 years now and i wouldn't swap it for the world.

I've modded the gimbals a bit (Specially shaped bit of Carlsberg beer can) to remove the infamous stick play and its working fine. I have considered going for the full monty and replacing the entire gimbal and sensor set but it doesn't seem worth spend £300 when I can have similar performance from a 90p beer can. 'Highly technical' fix i know but it works.

Yes Aerospace Production Engineering. Really dull course (materials science and thermo dynamics always put me to sleep) but its paid off in the long run.

Lol, boredom was why I became tired of the education system. Hell, if I gotta do it to be successful then its worth the time. :)

Anyway I digress :D Whats the plan for releasing the aircraft that your team are working on? Pack or Individually?

I hope you step on a piece of Lego you bastard.

Well it kept me fed and housed... admittedly I ended up more in the IT and Management side of things in the end than real engineering. But my jobs have taken me around the world and given me a decent lifestyle, so i cant complain :P

UK and German versions first. With a template scheme if people want to reskin the plane. Then a the other national skins a while later.

A beer can? That's abusing alcohol! Or did you drink the beer first? Then I just said nothing. :D
Ok, to be serious, I am interrested in you Cougar beer can mod, could send me some pictures of it via PM?

@Topic: jaw and toe-breaking addon - mine fell down on my feet when I saw the progress! :eek

Website back up...

As a few people have noticed the RKSL Website has been down recently. I've done some work to upgrade the backend again. Mostly security fixes but I've taken the opportunity to swap out a few of the older core components for either newer versions or totally new components.

Anyway you'll notice the more obvious changes...
  • The theme, its a bit easier on the eyes and should load better on the various browsers out there.
  • The format. I've chosen to swap to a more "news" orientated format. Its easier for people and search engines to read so thats got to be better for everyone.
  • The comments system has been improved. The old one was a bit clunky and didn't have proper BBcode support so we've swapped to a better system.
  • I've also added a copy of the standard RKSL EULA for our addons to the website. This is the basis of all our licences, but please read the ones that come out with the addons. There may be exceptions or caveats.
That's it I think. if you have any questions please ask!
All the best
Rock

[size=4]Merlin Update April 2010[/size]

The Forth generation... well this is custom made for ArmA2. It got a better shape than the old "VBS2" one. It is actually slightly higher poly than the gen2 one and has quite a few more gadgets included:

  • Auto/Manual Landing gear toggle
  • Auto/Manual Doors toggle
  • Flight Model Switching* - Switches between "Realistic" and "I'm a whiney baby that cant be arsed to learn to fly" mode. (Yes that is what its called! And it does come up on a display and is shown in the cargo cabin on the forward bulkhead so your passenger know you are a lazy twat)
  • Fully Instrumented cockpit and warnings
  • Dynamic Damage and Warnings
  • Cockpit System Audio Warnings
  • Switchable Copilot Position* - Allows the copilot to take control of the aircraft and vice versa.
And few other things

Top notch looking work as usual. You never fail to amaze me with the high quality of your addons. I do have some questions. Will the helicopters be ACE compatible? Will they be able to utilize the ACE fast roping and slingload systems? Will you have your own system for these features or will the aircraft just not be able to do fast roping or slingloading?

Keep up the awesome work!

Well i was hoping we would be using our own system but its not really passed out of the concept stage. I wont be including any ACE hooks in the standard addons since not one of the groups I play with will touch it anymore.

For MP games we've been using a "private" scripted solution for fast ropes but the author doesn't want it public yet so we may end up adding our own at some point. But if there is a proven demand for it I may make an Ace compatible config replacement just like others have done.
