Hello Everyone,

I have a big question about getting AI soldiers to act more like an irregular insurgent force. There are 2 behaviors I want to create...

1. Can the AI be made to attack an enemy but move laterally instead of advancing on them. In other words, they move to within range then circle but never get closer. Could it also me made to move back as the opposition advances? I know this can be done with way points, but was hoping that there was a less predictable way to do it.

2. In urban setting, can the AI me made to alternate between seeking cover/keeping low, and attacking aggressively? I want to make a mission were the AI runs around a corner, fires, then runs to cover. Again, way points make this very stiff and predictable.

Imagine a missions where enemy technicals circle your squad and the AI can be "pushed back" yard by yard......

Any Ideas?

Yap, I can think of 3 things.

[ArmA] Suppression by Antti Hankonen http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=details&id=416&game=ArmA. As Suppression Pack, it should do exactly what you want.

Suppressionscript-pack, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1139. Another Suppression pack.

Rommels Improved AI, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3053. For Fire-reactive ai.

Group Link II Plus, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1041. For tactics, flanking and maneuvers.

Urban Patrol Script, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=471. Well as a goodie. :P


With that you should be able to combine what you want to make. :)

All these are mostly scripts you can input into your mission, if you want addon/mod based I can think of a few too. :)

Thanks for the quick help! :thumb

I'll give all these a try tonight, if you know of any other mods that may help I'd love to give those a try too. Right now I am using ACE,ECS and true range AI but am always looking for more addons to make things more dynamic.

It would however probably be best to make a mod of your own with your own choice of CfgAISkill settings.

And well if you really wanna make something than of course mod or edit them or for example TrueRangeAI into your own mod or liking. :P


But do keep in mind that one ai mod can overwrite the other. Like ACE and ECS and stuff I mean. So do combine it correctly together. :D
