ShackTac Fireteam HUD (STHUD) updated

Dslyecxi released an updated version of the ShackTac Fireteam HUD on the BI forums.

Quote Dslyecxi :
Once upon a time, we had an idea to make something that would alleviate some of the issues in ArmA with regards to situational awareness. Our ShackTac Fireteam HUD is the solution we came up with, and while it is not completely finalized feature-wise, we think it's more than ready to be used by those who share similar views regarding gameplay's relationship with realism.

The ShackTac Fireteam HUD was designed to do the following:

Provide situational awareness on where your fireteam members are and what their orientation is. This is intended to represent both peripheral vision, as well as the extended awareness one has in reality. You only see your fireteam members relative to you - no terrain, no other players/units.

Give you an always-visible way of seeing who your team members are

Changelog:

Added configs for: Moschnyi, Cicada, Hazar-Kot Valley.

Markers for units inside vehicles use the vehicle's direction.

Potential fix for missions that use assignTeam in unit inits.

HUD compass requires having ItemCompass in your inventory.

Marker distance ignores height differences.

Partial A2 compatibility (no support for team colours).

Fixed a bug where restarting the HUD would recreate an internal local object.

strac_sapper released the US Army Woodland Vehicles on our forums.
This adds woodland camouflage vehicles to US roster.

Quote DiFool :
When first encountering this site I searched for US Army woodland camouflage vehicles. This creates that addon. It uses BIS USMC units and Stillman's Stryker addon, with US Army soldier/crew added and put in the US roster. I included BigMorgan and ThePieSky's M2 Bradley addon as it fills the roster out nicely. Thanks to both Stillman and BigMorgan for allowing the use of their great addons. It is nice to have them in one convenient location! Above image uses Nixo91 Multicam Reskin #1.

If you must get your US Army war on in the woods or jungle, this addon is for you.

DiFool released an updated version of the Stagler's Spetsnaz GRU Replacement Pack on the BI forums.
In this new version he corrected some config errors.

Quote DiFool :
This is just a pack of config files packed into .pbo files. All the real work and the credits for it belong to the original addon makers.

The units used are the great "Stagler's Spetsnaz GRU".
They are equiped with either Vilas Russian Weapons Pack or Suddens AK74M Pack.

The replacement files contain:

Stagler's GRU SpetsNaz equipped with Suddens Ak74Ms.

Stagler's GRU SpetsNaz equipped with Vilas' Russian weapons.

These files above do not replace anything and can be used together if you have both weapon packs installed.

Further the replacement contains:

BIS MVD SpetsNaz replaced by Stagler's GRU GORKA-D SpetsNaz equipped with Suddens Ak74Ms.

BIS MVD SpetsNaz replaced by Stagler's GRU GORKA-D SpetsNaz equipped with Vilas' Russian weapons.

BIS Russian army SpetsNaz replaced by Stagler's GRU GORKA-D-WL-camo SpetsNaz equipped with Suddens Ak74Ms.

BIS Russian army SpetsNaz replaced by Stagler's GRU GORKA-DWL-camo SpetsNaz equipped with Vilas' Russian weapons.

Out of that 4 replacement files you can only use two at once (only one file for either the MVD or the army SpetsNaz).

Jeza informed us Bracer released an updated beta of his popular Emita City island for Arma 2: Combined Operations on the BI forums.

Quote Bracer :
I'm now releasing Emita v1.12!
It should fix the texture errors. I also removed some buildings that were not supposed to stand where they stood.

It's a full release to avoid some confusion that might occur with a hotfix for these errors. Sorry for the inconvenience!

For the next release I'm planning to improve the custom buildings, to make them work better and look better.
But it should be quite fun for PvP as they stands now!

Old missions should work, but you'll have to remove "testmap6" in the mission filename and replace with "emita"

Changelog:

Fixed missing textures in custom buildings

Removed some stray buildings

Experimental: A different way to handle mouse steering is implemented for boats.

New: A cursor is shown to provide a visual feedback when steering a car.

Blake's AI Forward Observer updated

blakeace informed us he released an updated version of his AI Forward Observer module on the BI forums.

Quote blakeace :
Firstly just like my other addons, real life is limiting my time online, as such rather than continue to let these items gather dust on my harddrive, I thought I would release them and let the community both test the MP aspects, and hopefully enjoy their use. Hence the alpha status.

The module is based on my AI Artillery Framework scripts. I have tweaked and changed a couple of things, but mainly it is fundamently the same. The reason for producing a module was to create a very simple way for mission designers to add opposition artillery. Like the framework it uses real mortar pieces firing rounds at targets that the FO's genuinely know about. Using the BIS artillery module functionality hidden within. Leaving the user with a nice graphical way of creating opposition artillery.

Mission designers need to be aware of the ranges of different artillery objects. Basic ranges can be found at Community wiki.
It is not intended to be deadly accurate, though the default mortars still pack a real punch if detonating nearby.

Changelog:

Fixed Displaying of the artillery ranges broken in 1.1

Added sample missions

Note the SADARM is very powerful, especially if used against human players.
In the next version I want to add counters specific to each round type.

Dynamic Weather Effects Script by Engima updated

Engima submitted an updated version of his Dynamic Weather Effects Script.
This script handles dynamic weather (fog, overcast, rain and wind) in both singleplayer and multiplayer.

Quote Engima :
As a mission designer I have always had problems with the weather. It has not been dynamic the way I want it to be, and I've always thought that it synchronizes terribly in multiplayer as soon I start laborating with it (especially rain).

This is a simple script that makes the weather dynamic, and it works in single player, multiplayer (hosted and dedicated) and for JIPs. The weather is constantly changing over time intervals of the mission designer's choice. Weather is unpredictible, and above all it's always synchronized among all players in a multiplayer game!

Script handles fog, overcast, rain and wind.

Changelog:

Added section for mission makers to customize and tweak weather behaviour and details.

Dependency to CommonLib.sqf deleted.

Improved rain behaviour.

Mission start is passed as arguments.

Slightly better performance.

SPY bStats Updated

Spyder submitted version 1.1.5.568 of his SPY Battle Statistics script suite.
SPY bStats is a mission script suite to determine what caused the player' death. From here, by default, the players score is stored and kept persistent mission side.

Quote Spyder :
Getting deployed has kept me pretty busy. I have been able to use my downtime to continue my work on bStats as well as the ArmA Live site. There is a large list of changes in the version. The most notable would be that weapon detection is now at 100%. That means that weapon statistics will be extremely accurate. This will be used later on to bring unit detection to the same level.

ALS has also seen changes. View the changes to ALS at www.armalive.com. If you are interested in implementing bStats and ALS with your mission/server feel check out the included readme.

Coop mission : Operation Cocaine Blues by NkEnNy

NkEnNy released his latest mission in the BI forums.

Quote NkEnNy :
Operation Cocaine Blues explores the implications of the packages found in Operation Peren's Waltz. It transforms the recon team to an aggressive helicopter borne formation out for blood. The difficultly of this mission is higher than the prequels, and the need for coordination greater. If you've played through these missions in order, I would love to get some feedback as to how you sorted them. Enjoy.

Singleplayer or less than six players.
Cocaine blues is a departure from the eight man squad. It weaves multiple elements together in a high speed operation against an elusive enemy. There is no automation in the helicopters. Therefore to facilitate singleplayer (or squads that don't do piloting) there are a pair of Landrover, actually Handover, trucks in the starting location. In singleplayer you should use the Commander slot.

bobtom has submitted an updated version of his dynamic zombie coop mission for Arma 2: Combined Operations.
This comes in 3 versions:

CO version (Flagship version):
Requires patch 1.60 of ArmA 2 Combined Operations. No other mods/addons required

Dynamic Zombie Sandbox V.90 CO

OA version:
Requires patch 1.60 of ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead (this is untested, no mod conflicts will occur but the mission may not work well. Please leave feedback!). No other mods/addons required

Dynamic Zombie Sandbox V.90 OA

A2 version:
Requires patch 1.10 of ArmA 2 or ArmA 2 Free. No other mods/addons required

Dynamic Zombie Sandbox V.90 A2/A2F

Quote bobtom :
Huge update! Fourth beta release of my mission. Focus on everything. I fixed quite a few bugs, and not all of them are on the changelog. Respawn, sidemissions, survivors, and more below.

What's fixed?
- Stability has been increased, along with efficiency.
- Respawn was a big feature, and it works fully. When you die (and you sure will in this version) you respawn at a random town with a random gun, just like when you start.
- The ability to start together was a big request, which removes that fear of the beginning, but it's fun anyway, and as an option.
- Construction allows you to build your own bases, more money cannot be obtain as of now, but that's for future.
- Sidmissions bring longer playability, and unique rewards that can be fought over. Four sidemissions are in right now, and more are on the way. Currently there is: C130 crash, Ammo box drop, Horde infested base that can be captured and used as a safezone, and a horde that spawns at a town and needs to be neutralized
- New method of spawning zombies. Towns will spawn more zombies than just the countryside. If you enter Rasman, Feruz, or any other town, chances are you will get swarmed. Makes vehicle finding a risk, and it's quite scary.
- Different versions have been added for people with only certain versions of the game. Arma 2 free is supported for everyone who just wants to try it out: http://www.arma2.com/free These versions will work with basic functionality, but more bugs might be present.

ACE version isn't complete yet, but will be released shortly.

A collection of reskins based on the stock BIS KamAZ models, intended for civilian use. As a bonus, a pack of KamAZ trucks for the CDF is included, along with a few skins for civilian UAZs.

This pack contains no less than 7 distinct colour schemes for the civilian KamAZ: red, yellow, dark blue, light blue, beige, white and orange. These schemes are applied over both closed and open variants, and there is also the KamAZ Repair truck and Fuel truck available in orange, fitting a construction company-esque theme. On top of that, there are three other varieties of the KamAZ Fuel truck - one unbranded in white and red, as well as a "Poshol" truck and a "Schnell" truck (extra_kamaz_schnell.pbo)

And as a bonus, you can also have three new civilian versions of the UAZ in grey, blue and red, as well as a pack featuring the KamAZ in CDF colours.

The mission package offer a set of training operations of various complexity and difficulty. These are missions intended for multiplayer, and while singleplayer is possible it is only supported through the multiplayer interface.

Blake's PINS (Pseudo Inertial Navigation System) and Bombing updated

blakeace informed us he released an updated version of his Pseudo Inertial Navigation System (PINS) and Bombing addon on the BI forums.
This is an addon to maximise situational awareness as a pilot.

Quote blakeace :
I am an avid flight simulation enthusist, and have been using one piece of software or another for nearly thirty years. That said I believe Arma to primarily be and infantry simulator. It's one unqiue feature over any other software I have used in my opinion is it's ability to allow human players to experince the interaction between different arms within the military. So my focus here was to try and maximise that communication from the air to the ground, so many aspects are simplified in the aircraft so that hopefully on the ground it seems no different to somebody linking dcs a10 to arma.

Most importantly I wanted to maximise situational awareness, so that instead of the pilot always having his head in the map, he always has the most important reference point right there. He can then relay things like how long he will be what direction all from the information displayed. Hopefully it will make things like targetting with referencing smoke a lot easier as the imediate area is framed. Though the pilot still needs to use his eyes to find the exact point and the reference frame doesn't focus right down to the exact point. Resonably easy with a cluster of five buildings, different in the middle of a large town or city.
Even if you are just tranporting troops in, and you want to fly low, this gives you the distance to the area allowing you to focus on flying without be distracted by where you are going, or worse plowing into the ground because it took a little to long for your map to close.

Depending on the mission you can add a camera so the pilot can focus in more precisely on the area either as an aid for when referencing points with the ground, or fine tuning for CCIP,CCRP or Laser delivery.

I also wanted to have the different types of attacks represented better. So that the ground controller can make better use of the planes munitions. So unguided bombs can no longer lock onto a vehicle, but the pilot actually has an aiming cursor. Unguided bombs will drift too, so careful consideration needs to be applied in regards to where friendly troops are located. Eg target has a couple of non radar guided anti aircraft guns in a farm, friendlies in nearby woods. You have a harrier on call with unguided bombs. Better to setup a medium altitude CCRP run, to limit the guns effect compared to diving down onto the target. If this target was in the middle of the city then this may not be the right call as a stray bomb could kill civilians etc.

Feedback welcome especially regarding functionality on dedicated servers.

Changelog:

Changed control of the weapons systems to the gunner if there is one on the aircraft.

Changed the binoculars key to be a toggle on toggle off for the flir cam, Hold breath is still only while held.

* Arma 2 - Aerial Refueling

Feint starting working on his next project. This time he is working on Aerial Refueling module.

Quote Feint :
I was asked by VectorX96 to put something together to allow aerial refueling (aka tanking or mid-air refueling) chatter between a pilot and tanker. So I figured I would just throw together some various dialog that could go back and forth between the tanker and the low-fuel aircraft.
But after doing some testing, I decided to create something to actually enable mid-air refueling for any aircraft.
So far it's working pretty well. One of the nice things about this is that it is an alternative to people who don't use ACE2.

Features:
- Greeting from tanker with response from low-fuel aircraft declaring intentions and amount of fuel needed
- Vector to tanker including direction from low-fuel aircraft, heading of tanker, altitude of tanker, speed of tanker, distance from tanker (when greater than 100 meters from tanker)
- Distance from port fuel drogue (as you get within 100 meters of tanker)
- attachTo locks aircraft to tanker during refueling (when within 2 meters of fuel drogue)
- customized placement of aircraft during tanking (including addon aircraft)
So far, I don't have a hose model so I'm just using a wall lamp as the refueling drogue (as a placeholder). Once you get within 2 meters of that, the refueling takes place. Watch this video for the beta version demonstration.

Russian Armory Package by DaMan3 updated

DaMan3 released an updated version of his Russian Armory Package on the BI forums.

Quote DaMan3 :
Today I release this new weaponpack, where great care has been taken to achieve realistic configurations of the contained weapons, instead of just randomly throwing numbers in.
Now your eastern special forces team of your choice have their specialized weapons and armor!
No need to use old AK74s anymore, since these new AK's with RIS/rail systems and use of the newer 7N24 bullet (while maintaining the capability to shoot the traditional AK74 rounds of your fallen enemies) are brought to you because of their serious punch.

Since they are western made (Magpul AK), your western team can use them too, to combat enemies deep behind enemy lines with high grade precision weapons, without the danger of running out of ammo (since normal AK74 ammo is literally everywhere)

The .556 (M4 Ammunition) chambered version with a scope, is the ideal solution for snipers who want to be able to engage targets at long range, while also having the ability to engage targets at close range, hence the automatic firemode selector.

For tight spaces the original russian Vityaz SN comes in extra handy. Just point and shoot, like an MP5A6, only better because of its higher firerate and longer (up to 220 yards) engage range.

And last but not least: RPG7s are weapons of the insurgents, thats why you have to use the RPO-M Shmel on them and their light armor.

Changelog:

The weapons are now 1.60 compatible.

Added new (SD, Aimpoint) versions plus minor bugfixing.

SP mission : Flashpoint: Chernarus & Utes versions updated

thomsonb informed us he updated both versions of this mission, Addon free and BAF version, in the BI forums.

Changes in this version:

Added: Artillery strikes;
All factions now call in Artillery strikes against known enemy units.
The type of strike is random, mortars or heavy guns.
The number of shells per strike is random.
The weight of fire is random.
The aiming error is random.
The strikes take time to arrive, so a moving target might move to safety.
The time between each strike of each faction is random.
The player is trated the same as AI units, no more or less likely to be the target.
All this results in a range of fire missions, from small slow atacks by a single mortar, all the way to a devastating rapid fire heavy barrage from multiple heavy guns.
The Artillery is a work in progress.
Features to be added later: Player designation of targets, Prioritisation of targets, Checking for friendly fire of each barage, Different levels of Arty for each Faction etc.
This Artillery system adds a bit more realistic danger to the battlefield. It was inspired in part by another of my favorite milsims, SteelBeasts. If you stay in the same place too long, you're toast!
Please feedback about the Artillery, let me know if it fits in with how you play the mission etc.

Fixed: Respawn list now shows the primary and secondary weapon of each unit, rather than its class type (class types are often not relevant anymore with the new custom unit spawning. This introduces the problem that Medics and Snipers are not easily identified on the list... to be fixed later).

Changed: Respawn list now shows units on the players original side first on the list, not always BLUFOR first.

Changed: "Who Got Me?" command now not added to rabbit in the cases of suicide, or death from unknown source, like artillery etc.

Fixed: On Utes, some parked cars spawning areas were broken by previous update.
